Concert tickets have quietly become travel booking triggers in Việt Nam, and the numbers this year are striking. Online travel platforms Trip.com and Agoda report that music fans are snapping up flights and hotels months ahead — not just for shows at home, but for gigs across Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Start with Hà Nội. BIGBANG's World Tour lands at Mỹ Đình National Stadium on October 24 and 25, and the effect on bookings has been dramatic. Flights into the capital for October 23–26 were up 74 per cent year on year, and hotel bookings around the city in October rose 45 per cent. Fans moved fast once tour details dropped: the presale launch on August 14 sent flight and hotel bookings to roughly six times baseline levels. The savviest (or most devoted) booked early — flights were reserved an average of 70 days before departure, hotels 76 days. By July 29, hotels within 3km of the stadium had sold out entirely, and bookings for October 23–24 hit about 15 times the normal October daily average.
Ho Chi Minh City tells a similar story. Two major local shows — "Tình Hà Say Hi" and "Anh Trai Vượt Ngàn Chông Gai" — are set for October 17 and 18, and flights into the city for October 16–19 jumped 77 per cent year on year. Hotel bookings for October 16–17 soared 621 per cent.
The trend extends well beyond Việt Nam's borders. Interest in Bangkok this November more than doubled among Vietnamese travellers on Agoda, driven by the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 Grand Final on November 14. Agoda is an official travel partner for the event, and country director Vũ Ngọc Lâm hopes the contest will pull Vietnamese fans to Thailand while showcasing Vietnamese music and culture to the rest of Asia.
The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn tour created its own booking spikes: Bangkok reservations for October 9–11 ran more than seven times the city's usual daily volume, with fans booking an average of 72 days out — versus 49 days for regular October trips. Kuala Lumpur shows in November were even more extreme, with bookings nearly 22 times the daily average and travellers locking in 95 days ahead on average.
Then there's the BTS World Tour "Arirang" in December. A remarkable 88 per cent of Trip.com's December bookings to Bangkok fall between December 1 and 5, and 91 per cent of Kuala Lumpur bookings sit in the December 9–12 window. Year on year, December 2026 bookings to Bangkok are up a staggering 1,116 per cent, with Singapore up 696 per cent.
For travellers, the takeaway is clear: if a big concert is on your radar, book early — the crowds clearly do. Concert-driven demand now shapes flight prices and hotel availability across Southeast Asia, and staying near a venue on show weekend is close to impossible without planning well in advance. For the tourism industry, it's proof that live music has become a genuine engine of regional travel, worth courting as deliberately as any beach season.
