Milaidhoo Maldives has lined up a guest chef with serious credentials for December 2026. James Knight-Paccheco — better known as Chef JKP — lands on the Baa Atoll island on 11 and 12 December for two events built around hands-on cooking and a long, leisurely dinner.
The first evening is the practical one. On 11 December, JKP runs a culinary workshop where guests actually cook alongside him, picking up professional techniques and trading ideas in the kitchen rather than watching from the sidelines. The next night shifts to fine dining: a wine-pairing dinner of dishes in his signature style, with each course matched by the resort's resident sommelier.
If you don't know the name, JKP has spent more than two decades in hospitality, with stints in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels across the UK and the Middle East. His CV includes time working alongside Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsay and Michael Caines, and he hosts The Chef JKP Podcast, which has notched up over 6.5 million downloads.
The visit fits Milaidhoo's broader approach to food. The resort leans on Maldivian flavours and traditional cooking methods, then layers in international influences from its chef team — and it deliberately treats dining as interactive, encouraging guests to talk technique with the people cooking their meals. Sitting inside the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve doesn't hurt the setting either.
For food-loving travellers, this is the kind of add-on that turns a beach week into something more. A workshop plus a paired dinner is a manageable commitment — you still get your snorkelling and sunsets — but you leave with skills and a story. Worth noting: the Maldives guest-chef scene is busy. The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli has its own Tastemaker Series running through late 2026, including two-Michelin-starred Alexander Herrmann in November, and Milaidhoo itself hosted Laurence Tan of Singapore's Michelin-starred JAG in October. If a specific chef is your reason to book, lock in dates early — intimate dinners like Tan's 16-seat event sell out fast.
