Edmonton goes properly spooky in late October, and this year the city's Halloween market scene is bigger than ever. Better still: every single event on the list is free to enter, so the only thing you'll spend money on is whatever witchy treasures you drag home.

The pick of the bunch for many is The Witchery Market, which only materialises four times a year. It runs Friday, Oct. 16 to Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 at 10433 83rd Ave. NW, with evening hours Friday (4-9 p.m.), a long Saturday (10 a.m.-8 p.m.) and a shorter Sunday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.). Expect artisans, tarot readers and jewellery stalls leaning hard into the magical vibe.

If you'd rather combine spooky shopping with a regular mall run, the Boo-tique Hotel Market from Malla Market sets up at Kingsway Mall (109 Kingsway NW) across two weekends — Oct. 17-18 and Oct. 24-25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. More than 35 local vendors will be there, offering things like mini tattoos, tooth gems and a bracelet bar. Early birds take note: the first 20 shoppers through the door each day get a free tote and swag.

The same weekend, AniDora Halloween brings over 60 vendors to Bonnie Doon Shopping Centre (8330 82nd Ave. NW) on Saturday, Oct. 24 and Sunday, Oct. 25. Costumes are encouraged, there are community games and booths, and a free prize draw wraps things up on Sunday afternoon (hours run 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sunday).

Fashion-forward types should head to Cursed Kitty Clothing's Halloween Market at 7718 104th St. NW on Oct. 24-25, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It's the one for vintage and alternative clothing with a 2000s slant, plus handmade pieces and Halloween-themed nail sets.

Finally, the Orchards Halloween Night Market closes out the weekend on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 4059 Orchards Dr. SW. It's a neighbourhood affair — 20-plus vendors and a line-up of food trucks, so you can sort dinner and gifts in one go.

Why it matters: if you're in Edmonton in late October, these markets are a genuinely local way to spend a day or evening — small makers, oddball finds and costumes welcome, with zero entry fees across all five. They're spread across the city from Kingsway in the north to The Orchards in the southwest, so you can easily pair one with whichever neighbourhood you're already exploring. Costumes optional, tote-hunting strategy optional but recommended.
