Hyatt loyalists, take note: World of Hyatt is set to switch on free online points transfers between member accounts as of Thursday, October 15, 2026. The feature was first promised earlier this year alongside the programme's award chart changes, with only a vague 'later in 2026' timeline attached — now there's a concrete date.

Why does this matter? Until now, pooling points with another Hyatt member has been a chore. You had to fill out a form, wait days for it to process, restrict yourself to one combine every 30 days, and justify the transfer as being solely 'to have a sufficient number of points to redeem a particular award'. In other words: possible, but clunky and technically limited to topping up for a specific booking. A proper online transfer tool should make that a matter of clicks rather than paperwork.

Hyatt has actually been improving its digital points features steadily. Guest of Honor Awards, Suite Upgrade Awards, Club Access Awards and Free Night Awards can all already be shared or applied online with relative ease, so there's reasonable hope the new transfer tool follows the same pattern.

There is, however, a catch worth watching. The current rules technically have no numeric cap on transfers — just that vague redemption justification. When Hyatt formalises the process, it could quietly introduce annual limits. Look at Hilton Honors for comparison: its online transfers are easy, but members can send a maximum of 500,000 points per year and receive no more than two million. A similar cap at Hyatt would be a real downgrade for families or partners who pool points for high-end redemptions, like top-tier all-inclusive properties or suites at Park Hyatt flagships.

For holiday planners, the practical upshot is straightforward. If you and a partner or family member each earn Hyatt points separately, pooling them is about to get dramatically easier — and Hyatt's points remain among the most valuable hotel currencies around, particularly for its luxury and all-inclusive brands. The advice: if you have a big transfer in mind, it may be worth doing before October 15 in case new restrictions land with the launch, or waiting to see whether the online version comes with generous limits.

The open questions are the size of any annual transfer cap, whether there's a limit on how many different members you can send points to, and how quickly transfers post. Those details should become clear when the feature goes live. Either way, this is a rare bit of good news from a programme that has had a rough run of changes lately — just with fingers crossed that 'enhancement' doesn't turn out to mean 'restriction'.
