Not everyone has six months to circle the planet — and Azamara has finally caught on. The line has opened bookings for two shorter World Cruise options in its 2029 collection, joining the full 195-night voyage that went on sale in September. All three sailings run aboard the Azamara Quest and each covers five continents, but the length you commit to is now up to you.
The mid-length option is a 179-night sailing from San Diego to London, departing 3 January 2029 and arriving 1 July. It packs in 52 late nights in port, 16 overnights and stops at 12 maiden ports — places the ship has never called before. Prefer to start in the Southern Hemisphere? A 139-night cruise runs from Sydney to Copenhagen between 1 March and 17 July 2029, with 43 late nights, 11 overnights and four maiden ports.
At the top end, the flagship 195-night World Cruise sails San Diego to Copenhagen and remains the longest on offer for 2029. Azamara says 65 percent of that voyage is spent in port, including 60 late nights and 16 overnight stays — a stat the line leans on heavily, since its whole pitch is 'Destination Immersion' rather than whirlwind port dashes.
Every World Cruise guest gets a few extras regardless of which itinerary they pick: exclusive onboard events, complimentary AzAmazing Evenings, select Overland Experiences that take you further inland, plus a premium beverage package, bonus onboard credit, unlimited wash-and-fold laundry and other perks the line values at up to $44,000 per booking.
Why does this matter? World cruises usually demand a four-to-six-month block of time and a serious budget, so shorter segments open the door to travellers — retirees with a flexible winter, sabbatical-takers, or anyone who wants the bragging rights without the full haul. The Sydney departure is a nice touch for travellers in Australia and Asia, while the San Diego start suits North Americans who'd rather not fly to a distant embarkation port.
Bookings are open now across all three itineraries, and cabins on full world voyages do sell through — especially the better-positioned staterooms — so anyone seriously considering 2029 would be wise to look sooner rather than later.
