Hyatt loyalists who also fly Air Canada just got a reason to link their accounts. Following the launch of the World of Hyatt–Aeroplan partnership this summer, the two programs have rolled out a fresh batch of offers — and one of them lets hotel elites essentially skip the queue to airline status.

The headline feature is an Aeroplan status challenge, available once per calendar year to members who link their World of Hyatt and Aeroplan accounts. You have to enrol first, then earn the required Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) through qualifying Aeroplan activity — spend and fare type both matter — within a 90-day window. Explorists need 8,000 SQC to land Aeroplan 25K status. Globalists have a taller ladder: 12,000 SQC for 35K, 17,000 SQC for 50K, or 25,000 SQC for the top-tier 75K.

Why bother? Aeroplan elite status comes with Air Canada perks, and because Aeroplan is a Star Alliance program, the higher tiers extend benefits across partner airlines worldwide. For a frequent Hyatt guest who doesn't normally fly Air Canada enough to earn status the usual way, it's a shortcut that didn't exist before.

The second offer is a points double-dip. Register before 11 November 2026 and, on eligible Hyatt stays completed through 14 February 2027, you'll earn your standard World of Hyatt points plus 1.5 Aeroplan points per US dollar spent. Normally you'd have to choose: either Hyatt points, a flat 500 Aeroplan points in their place, or — unless you hold an Aeroplan credit card — not both at once. It's a limited window rather than a permanent perk, but registration costs nothing.

Honest framing: this partnership isn't the most generous airline-hotel pairing out there, and it skews most valuable for Canadians holding Air Canada-branded cards. But Aeroplan points are widely regarded as one of the stronger currencies for flight redemptions, and gaining a foothold in Star Alliance via your hotel status is a genuine bonus if your travel plans line up. If you stay at Hyatt properties with any regularity, linking accounts and enrolling in both offers is a low-effort, potentially high-reward move — just mark the enrolment and earning deadlines in your calendar so the 90-day clock doesn't catch you out.
