A cluster of big-name chefs is descending on the Maldives between October and December 2026, and several of the dinners are open not just to resort guests but to visitors from nearby islands — which makes this a rare chance to eat Michelin-level food in the atolls without booking a full luxury stay.

The headline event: Belgian chef Wout Bru, whose restaurant Le Grand Verre earned its first Michelin star in 2023, takes up a short residency across sister resorts Meyyafushi and Fushifaru from 31 October to 7 November 2026, timed to Meyyafushi's first anniversary. His modern-classical, Mediterranean-leaning cooking appears at two one-night dinners. On 2 November he hosts a four-course wine-paired dinner at Meyyafushi's Bubble Underwater Restaurant, priced at USD 450 net per person. On 5 November he serves a five-course Michelin menu at Raakani Restaurant at Fushifaru for USD 300++ per person. Bookings go through reservations@meyyafushi.com and reservations@fushifaru.com, and outside visitors are welcome subject to availability.

Over at The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli in Dhaalu Atoll, the Tastemaker Series doubles up. German chef Alexander Herrmann — of two-Michelin-starred AURA — returns 19–23 November 2026 with six-course dinners in the Decanter wine cellar (19 November) and at The Whale Bar (23 November), plus a masterclass at ALBA on the 20th. It's part of the resort's 10th-anniversary programme, and Marriott Bonvoy members can bid on a four-night overwater villa package with a private wine-paired dinner via Marriott Bonvoy Moments until 22 October 2026. Earlier in the season, Indian chef Surjan Singh, better known as Chef Jolly of MasterChef India fame, appears 28–30 October 2026 for a Diwali programme at the spice-route-inspired Cargo venue, including a six-course wine dinner in Decanter on 29 October and set menus running to 8 November.

Rounding things out, Milaidhoo — inside the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve — hosts Chef JKP (James Knight-Paccheco), a veteran of Michelin-starred kitchens who has cooked alongside Raymond Blanc and Gordon Ramsay. He leads a hands-on workshop on 11 December 2026 and a wine-pairing dinner on 12 December, with his podcast having clocked over 6.5 million downloads.

Why it matters: chef residencies are becoming the Maldives' answer to destination dining, and a few of these events — notably both Wout Bru dinners — explicitly welcome non-guests. If you're staying on a local island or a cheaper neighbouring resort, an advance reservation could get you an underwater or beachfront tasting menu for the price of a fine-dining night in Europe, rather than the price of a week at the resort itself. If you want the full immersion, the Bonvoy Moments auction is the standout value play, bundling seaplane transfers, villa, spa and a private dinner into one bid.
