Summer 2027 just got a lot more interesting for UK travellers. easyJet has put 18 new routes on sale from ten British airports, while Ryanair has started releasing its own batch of summer additions — and plenty of them serve airports beyond London.

easyJet's list is the longer one, and it stretches from Aberdeen to Newcastle. Six of the new routes head for Spain, including a first for the airline: Girona, reachable twice weekly from Liverpool from 28 March, and three times a week from Gatwick from 3 June. Aberdeen gets a first-ever link to Barcelona, and Scottish airports benefit overall from six new connections. Elsewhere, easyJet becomes the only carrier on several city pairs: Birmingham to Milan, Liverpool to Murcia, Gatwick to Ajaccio in Corsica, and Bristol to Montpellier in the south of France. There's also Edinburgh to Rome, Bilbao and Hamburg, Manchester to Bastia (Corsica again), and Luton to Thessaloniki, among others.

Ryanair's early summer 2027 releases lean on smaller airports and newer European connections. Leeds Bradford is a clear winner, with new links to Tirana, Budapest, Corfu, Malaga and Bari. The Midlands gains Birmingham to Wroclaw and East Midlands to Gdansk, while the south-west picks up Bournemouth to Porto and Exeter to Porto. Newcastle gets routes to Reus and Rhodes, and Norwich lands a Malaga connection.

The pattern here is worth noting: the biggest growth isn't at Heathrow or Gatwick, it's at regional airports like Aberdeen, Exeter, Norwich and Leeds Bradford. That means shorter drives to the departure gate, fewer overnight hotel stays before early flights, and often cheaper parking. Booking direct to Mediterranean beach spots or city-break favourites like Porto and Gdansk without trekking to London is a genuine quality-of-life upgrade.

Dates matter if you're planning around this. easyJet's Girona flights start in late March 2027, with the Gatwick service following in early June; most other routes will ramp up through the summer season. Ryanair says its summer 2027 routes are already on sale, so early bookers can lock in launch fares — typically where low-cost carriers are cheapest. If your local airport is on either list, it's worth checking the full route line-up before assuming you need a connecting flight or a long rail journey to reach the Med next summer.
