Delta has unveiled its biggest business-class revamp in nearly three decades, and it starts rolling out this autumn. The reimagined Delta One experience debuts on transoceanic flights leaving Los Angeles this fall, then spreads across the airline's global network in early 2027 — timed neatly with the arrival of its new A350-1000 flagship.

Food is the centrepiece. Delta worked with chefs Simon Hulstone, Norio Ueno and Jereme Leung on a menu that upgrades familiar comfort dishes rather than going fussy: a Wagyu beef burger, roasted sea bass, braised lamb, beef short rib and seasonal risotto. That's a serious logistical operation — eight million Delta One meals a year across 50 international kitchens, with a programme built on more than 700 ingredients. Service gets upgraded too, with redesigned tableware, tableside sauces, freshly cracked pepper and a dessert cart featuring a Champagne sorbet float.

Drinks may be the bigger headline for many flyers. Delta becomes the first airline to pour Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon, from December 1, 2026, and will serve Dassai 45 sake on Tokyo Haneda routes from November 3. A new wine list curated with Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson offers 13 selections from 11 wineries, chosen from over 1,600 candidates, while Taittinger expands to domestic Delta One flights. Hugo Spritz and Paloma cocktails — plus mocktail versions — arrive in spring 2027.

The comfort side gets attention as well. You'll be able to pre-select your entrée up to 18 hours before departure (six hours more notice than before), choose lighter or gluten-free meals, or skip the full breakfast for coffee and a croissant if sleep is the priority. A new "sip and settle" service delivers a hot towel, warm nuts and your drink of choice without a full cabin interruption. New Missoni Winter Elsewhere amenity kits land November 3 with Grown Alchemist skincare and Marvis dental products, and a Missoni Mini pillow will eventually replace the current cuddle pillow fleet-wide.

Delta didn't rush this. More than 200 flight attendants and employees gave feedback over 14 months, including 36 trial flights, shaping over 60 new tableware pieces and the phased rollout itself. Meanwhile the hardware keeps improving: the A350-1000's Delta One suites offer lie-flat beds over three inches longer than current versions, 24-inch screens and wireless charging, and older A330s are getting suites with privacy doors as Delta targets 90% enclosed seats by 2030. Dedicated Delta One Lounges already operate at LAX, JFK, Boston and Seattle, and the Porsche airport-transfer partnership is growing to 70 hybrid vehicles across 15 airports by 2028 — though you'll need to book VIP Select for that one.

Why it matters: Delta's premium revenue hit $6.82 billion in the third quarter of 2026, overtaking main-cabin revenue for the first time, and growing 18% year over year. With American and United rolling out their own upgraded cabins, the race for premium international travellers is now as much about hospitality as seats. If you fly long-haul business regularly, expect the full experience across Delta's network by early 2027.
