Hatta Resorts has reopened for its ninth season, and this year the headline news is for dog owners: the Deluxe RV-Campers at this mountain escape in Dubai's Hajar Mountains hinterland are now pet-friendly. The site's classic vintage campers are back too, starting from around Dhs300 a night — a restored retro sleeper van with air conditioning, fast internet, tea and coffee kit, a covered porch with seating, a fire pit and a barbecue station.
The pet-friendly option is the bigger Deluxe RV-Camper, which sleeps up to four with a double bed and sofa bed, private bathroom, TV and kitchenette. Rates start at Dhs713 per night. The dog rules are clear: one dog up to 20kg, valid vaccination documents shown at check-in, a signed waiver, and Dhs250 per day on top of the room rate.
Once you're there, Hatta is essentially one big playground for you and your hound. The obvious activity is hiking — the area has a stack of trails of varying length and gradient, all with mountain views. Guests staying at the resort get 15% off kayaking at Hatta Wadi Hub, though be warned: dogs must wear a life jacket and stay in the kayak, so nervous or determined-to-swim pups might prefer to sit that one out.
For a break, Yaazar Cafe welcomes dogs of all sizes with indoor and outdoor seating and views across the Hajar Mountains — water bowls included.
Why it matters: pet-friendly accommodation is still rare in the UAE, where many hotels flatly refuse four-legged guests. A resort that combines mountain air, trails, water sports and a proper room for a reasonable nightly rate is a genuine option for Dubai-based dog owners who usually have to leave the pup behind or settle for a city park day trip. It's a short drive from Dubai, so it works as a quick weekend escape rather than a full expedition.
