A fragrance brand just staged its first-ever global retreat in the Maldives, and it says a lot about where the country's tourism is heading. KAYALI, the scent house founded by beauty entrepreneur Mona Kattan, flew an international crew of influencers, content creators and media to Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa for a September 2026 event dubbed "KAYALI Island Spraycation" — the brand's first worldwide trip bringing its creator and media communities together in one place.
The choice of destination wasn't random. Kattan has long called the Maldives one of her favourite places, and that love has seeped into the product line itself — the Vacay in a Bottle collection is inspired by travel and destinations. At Kuda Huraa, in North Malé Atoll, the resort essentially became a living brand set: villas stocked with KAYALI products, robes and sleep accessories, themed turndowns and personalised welcome gifts.
The programme mixed scent and sea. Guests took part in a wellness session at ŪRJĀ Naturopathy Island, the resort's wellness sanctuary, built around the brand's Yum Lip & Body Collection, plus a Scent Lab exploring ingredients and the Middle Eastern tradition of layering fragrances. They sniffed their way through the portfolio — Vanilla | 28, Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar | 42, Yum Boujee Marshmallow | 81 — and got a sneak preview of an unreleased scent due in October 2026. Off-mat activities included a dolphin cruise aboard the Perfume Princess yacht and a movie night inspired by the Boujee Kitty Caramel Milk fragrance.
For the Maldives, the trip is part of a broader pattern. It follows KAYALI's Cappadocia activation in late 2025, but resorts across the country are now courting fashion and beauty names directly: Aquazzura launched a limited-edition sandal-and-clutch capsule with JOALI Maldives, Patina Maldives has a second sustainable capsule with streetwear label Stampd, and SO/ Maldives teamed with local label RIFFATH on "Flying Dress" photo-shoot gowns. Kuda Huraa's takeaway from the KAYALI event is that it can handle full-scale brand takeovers — custom accommodation, wellness programming, dining and excursions all bent to one creative brief.
Why should a regular traveller care? These collaborations tend to leave useful traces. Limited-edition products, pop-up boutiques and photo experiences often stay bookable by guests after the influencer crowd flies home — JOALI's Aquazzura pieces are sold in its island boutique, for instance, and SO/'s flying-dress shoots are a guest experience. It's also a signal of which resorts are investing in design-forward, social-media-savvy programming, which is a decent proxy for where the luxury bar is being set. If you've ever wanted a perfume-obsessed, wellness-heavy island stay with a dolphin cruise thrown in, the template now exists — and it was prototyped at Kuda Huraa.
