Seabourn has mapped out its 2029 summer programme: 166 sailings to more than 180 destinations, run by three ships — the Ovation, Quest and Encore — across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, and Canada and New England. Bookings are far out, but the outline is interesting now if you like planning big trips early, especially with a few firsts and rarities on the list.
The headline news is Egypt. Seabourn hasn't sailed there in over five years, and the comeback includes overnight stops in Alexandria on select Mediterranean voyages — enough time to make the run to Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza properly rather than in a rushed port day. The Ovation's Mediterranean season runs March to November with 21 itineraries covering the western Med, Italy, the Adriatic and the Aegean. Two themed sailings stand out: one pairing the Italian coast with fireworks over Corsica, and another combining the pyramids with an evening at Ephesus. That latter event is a Seabourn signature — the ancient Turkish city is opened after hours for a private classical music concert among the ruins. There's also a maiden call at Kapsali on Kythira, a quiet Greek island most cruise itineraries skip.
Up north, the Quest spends May to September on Scandinavia, the Baltic, the British Isles, Norway, Iceland and Greenland. The fresh itinerary is a seven-day run into the Gulf of Bothnia between Sweden and Finland, with first-ever calls at Härnösand, Kemi, Rauma and Oulu — ports well beyond the usual Baltic loop. Alta and Frøya in Norway are also new for the line. Overnights are built into Bordeaux, Rouen, Helsinki, Tallinn, Edinburgh and Hamburg, and timing a Turku stop for Finland's 900th anniversary celebrations could be a nice bonus. Voyages can be linked into 14, 21, 28-day or longer combinations.
Alaska gets the Encore back, with seven-day Juneau–Vancouver sailings from May to September plus 10- and 11-day versions pushing on to Valdez, Whittier and College Fjord. Glacier viewing is standard on every sailing, and select itineraries cruise the Great Bear Rainforest coastline in British Columbia — genuinely one of the better places on earth to spot whales and orcas from a ship.
Autumn belongs to the Quest in Canada and New England: 12- and 13-day September and October voyages timed for the fall colours, with overnights in Boston, Quebec City and St. John's and smaller stops like Gaspé, the Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Prince Edward Island.
Why care: Seabourn is a luxury line that leans on small ports and longer stays, so if your dream Mediterranean or Baltic trip involves fewer crowds and evenings ashore rather than six-hour dashes, this deployment is worth a look. Egypt's return is the rarest ticket here, and the Bothnia itinerary reaches Baltic corners almost no mainstream cruise touches.
