Orchard Road parking can hit $7 an hour at places like Hilton Hotel, but it doesn't have to. A recent guide from The Smart Local maps out the cheapest car parks along Singapore's famous shopping belt, broken down by weekday daytime, weekday evening and weekend rates — and the savings are genuinely worth knowing.
For weekday mornings, Angullia Park Public Car Park takes the crown. Sitting directly behind Wheelock Place and ION Orchard, it charges $1.30 per 30 minutes from 7am to 11am, then $1.50 until 5pm, billed per minute. Penang Road Off-Street is even cheaper in its window ($1.20 per half hour from 7am to 5pm), though it's a five-minute walk from Plaza Singapura and Dhoby Ghaut. Liat Towers, near the top of the belt, charges $1.50 per 30 minutes until 5.59pm.
Evenings flip the maths entirely. From 5pm or 6pm, most Orchard malls switch to flat per-entry rates, which is great if you're staying for dinner and a browse. ION Orchard charges just $3.05 per entry Monday to Thursday from 5pm, while Plaza Singapura is $3.25 after 6pm and The Cathay is $2.95 until 8am. Cathay Cineleisure goes even lower at $0.04 a minute. Angullia Park drops to $0.80 per 30 minutes after 5pm and caps at $5.60. There's also a Plaza Singapura promo running until 28 February 2027: spend $70 in a single receipt with eCapitaVouchers and you get a $3 parking eVoucher back.
Weekends cost a bit more, and Saturdays tend to beat Sundays on price — so if your schedule is flexible, Sunday shopping saves a few dollars. Concorde Hotel charges $3.75 per entry all day Sunday and sits mid-belt, while Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre has a neat trick: $1.80 an hour from 3pm with a daily cap of $5.90, meaning anything past roughly three hours is effectively free extra time. 111 Somerset is the Somerset pick at $2.51 per entry from 6pm.
Mechanics matter too. Gantry-based car parks read your in-vehicle unit and charge a NETS CashCard on exit, while roadside parking runs through the Parking.sg app — enter your plate and duration, pay by card, and unused minutes are refunded automatically if you leave early.
Why bother? A car beats hauling shopping bags onto a packed MRT train, and if you're renting a car in Singapore or driving in from Malaysia, parking is one of the few costs you can actually game. Check mall promotions too — many offer parking rebates once you hit a minimum spend, which you'd likely be spending anyway.
