Tucked into Level 3 of Ocean Centre at Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui, a new kind of shop has opened its doors — or rather, keeps them unmanned. Chinese AR and AI firm Rokid has launched what it calls the world's first self-service AI glasses experience store, where you can test the hardware, explore the features and buy a pair entirely without staff.
The setup is aimed squarely at tourists as much as locals. Harbour City is one of Hong Kong's busiest shopping complexes, and Rokid says the location doubles as a launch pad for its push across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Inside, eight experience zones let visitors put on Rokid Glasses and see what the hype is about: real-time translation overlays, AI answers to questions, turn-by-turn navigation, visual search and media capture, all projected onto a waveguide display in the lens. There are no demos to book and no queue for an assistant — you wander, try, and check out on your own.
There's a reason to move quickly if you're in town this month. The first 500 buyers at the store get a Rokid Joy Pack worth HK$4,688 — a bundle combining the Rokid Max AR glasses with the Rokid Station, a pocket-sized Android TV device for streaming and gaming — plus a limited-edition souvenir. The offer extends to 31 October 2026 through other Hong Kong channels too, including Broadway, csl, Fortress, SOGO and Optical 88, with smaller freebies like tote bags and carrying pouches thrown in while stocks last.
The timing fits a company on a roll. In September 2026, Counterpoint Research ranked Rokid number one globally in AR and AI glasses by shipment share for the first half of the year, and the firm also rolled out its AIUI Studio development environment worldwide to speed up app creation for its spatial glasses. Founded in 2014, Rokid has positioned itself as one of the more serious players in consumer smart eyewear.
Why should a traveller care? If you're passing through Hong Kong, this is a genuinely unusual retail experience — a fully automated gadget store you can explore at your own pace in one of the city's flagship malls. It's also a rare chance to try smart glasses hands-on before they hit mainstream retail elsewhere, whether you're shopping for tech to bring home or just curious about where wearable AI is heading. Add it to a Kowloon shopping itinerary alongside the harbour views of Tsim Sha Tsui; the store is at Shop 323A, Level 3, Ocean Centre, Harbour City, 3–27 Canton Road.
