Qatar Airways Privilege Club is running a transfer bonus that could be one of the better points moves of the year. Until 31 October 2026, converting eligible bank points into Privilege Club Avios earns you extra — and the more you move in a single transaction, the bigger the bonus.

The tiers work like this: transfers of up to 49,999 Avios get a 15% boost, 50,000 to 99,999 gets 25%, and anything from 100,000 Avios upwards earns the full 35%. Among the major US bank programs, Citi ThankYou is the only partner included in the offer. One thing to watch: the bonus is applied by Qatar Airways rather than the bank, so your extra Avios may not appear immediately — they'll land in your Privilege Club account by 30 November 2026 at the latest.

This kind of promotion isn't unusual — Qatar Airways has run similar bonuses once or twice a year in the past, generally in the 25–40% range — but 35% sits near the top of that band.

Why bother with Privilege Club at all? The key detail is that Qatar Airways uses Avios, the same currency as British Airways Club, Iberia Plus, Finnair Plus and Aer Lingus AerClub. You can move Avios between them at a 1:1 ratio, which means this deal effectively lets you convert Citi ThankYou points into British Airways Avios at an effective 1.35:1 rate — notable, since Citi doesn't partner directly with some of the other Avios programs.

There's also genuine value in keeping the points with Qatar. Privilege Club often has reasonable award pricing on Qatar's own flights and, importantly, tends to show more Qatar Airways business class award seats than you'd find through partner programs — though availability is still far from generous. The program also has some unusual airline partners, including JetBlue, RwandAir and Virgin Australia, which opens up redemptions other programs can't match.

For anyone holding a stack of Citi ThankYou points with no immediate use, a speculative transfer at a 35% bonus is a reasonable bet. Avios are easy to spend across several oneworld-aligned programs, so you're not locking yourself into a single airline. Just remember the bonus posts after the transfer window closes, so factor that delay into any booking plans.
