Road-trippers and off-grid campers have a new piece of kit to consider. BLUETTI has opened early access for the Apex 200, a portable power station that shrinks the company's flagship Apex 300 concept into a 27kg, 2.56kWh unit — with room to grow far beyond that if your needs (or your gear collection) expand.
The headline numbers: 2,560Wh of LFP battery capacity and 3.2kW of continuous AC output on its own, rising to 3.6kW when paired with expansion batteries or charging input. Bolt on compatible B300K or B500K expansion batteries and a single unit stretches to 33.28kWh. Run three units in parallel through the HUB A1 and you're looking at 6kW of output and roughly 100kWh of storage — serious whole-home backup territory from a box you can still lug around.
For travellers, the ports matter more than the peak specs. There's a built-in TT-30R outlet for travel trailers and a 12V/30A Anderson port that runs DC appliances directly, skipping the conversion losses you'd get going through an inverter. Boondockers can top it up with up to 3,000W of solar input, or use BLUETTI's Charger 2 to pull power from the vehicle's alternator while driving. A first for the brand: four individually controllable smart AC outlets, so you can switch, schedule or prioritise loads remotely through the BLUETTI app — handy when you're rationing battery through a multi-day outage or a remote campsite.
The pitch, per BLUETTI marketing director James Ray, is that you don't need to overinvest upfront — start with the base unit for fridge, lights and Wi-Fi during blackouts, then scale up later. The company is clearly responding to recent severe-weather outages, but the same kit works just as well pitched at adispersed campsite as it does backing up a kitchen.
Early-access registration is open until November 4, with early-bird pricing details, first access at launch and a rewards spin for registrants. The Apex 200 officially launches in the U.S. on November 5, when final pricing will be announced. If you're kitting out an RV or building an emergency backup setup before winter storm season, the early-access window is the moment to lock in whatever discount emerges.
