Two of the bigger loyalty programs in travel, World of Hyatt and Air Canada's Aeroplan, have rolled out a pair of linked offers that let members earn in both ecosystems at once — a genuinely useful development for anyone whose hotel stays and flights usually live in separate accounts.

The headline item is the new Aeroplan Status Challenge. Eligible World of Hyatt members — specifically those holding Explorist or Globalist tier status, plus Courtesy cardmembers — can take a one-shot, 90-day challenge to fast-track their way into Aeroplan elite status. During the challenge window, participants need to hit a required number of Status Qualifying Credits through qualifying Aeroplan activity. You only get one attempt per calendar year, so timing matters: pick a 90-day stretch when you actually have flights or other Aeroplan-eligible spend planned, rather than burning your single attempt during a quiet quarter.

Why the crossover is interesting: World of Hyatt top-tier status is famously one of the harder hotel elites to earn, and Aeroplan status can unlock Air Canada perks like priority services and better award options across the Star Alliance. A bridge between the two means hotel loyalists can build airline credentials (and vice versa) without starting from zero.

The second offer is more immediately tangible. Through November 11, members can register to earn a bonus on eligible Hyatt stays: on top of their standard World of Hyatt points, they'll pick up 1.5 Aeroplan points per US dollar spent. The earning window runs through February 14, 2027, which gives you well over a year of stays to bank the bonus. Registration is required, so if you have a Hyatt-heavy trip on the books — a city break, a resort week, a work stint — sign up before you check in, because the extra points won't appear retroactively.

Practically speaking, this is a one-two punch for points collectors. The earn bonus is low-effort value on spending you were going to do anyway, while the status challenge is the higher-stakes play for frequent flyers who want dual elite perks. If you're a Hyatt loyalist who occasionally flies Air Canada or other Star Alliance carriers, the challenge could be the cheapest route to airline status you'll see this year. If you're purely an Aeroplan member who pays for hotels out of pocket, the 1.5x earn turns any Hyatt booking into a double-dip.

One caveat: the status challenge is limited to Hyatt's upper tiers, so base-level members won't qualify — you'll need Explorist or Globalist in your pocket first. And the earn bonus is tied to eligible stays, so check the terms on rates like deep-discount bookings before assuming every dollar counts.

Deals like this tend to reward early action. Register while the window is open, plan your challenge window around real travel, and you could be collecting in two programs for the price of one trip.
