Midweek just got more indulgent in Bangkok. Espresso, the all-day restaurant on the mezzanine of InterContinental Bangkok, has expanded its Premium Seafood Dinner Buffet to run Wednesday through Sunday — so you no longer need to wait for Friday or the weekend to tuck into an ocean-sized spread.

The seafood station now sits right by the entrance, and it's the centrepiece for good reason. The seafood-on-ice display pairs Irish and Fine de Claire oysters with Avruga caviar plus salmon, black lumpfish and red lumpfish roes, with DIY blini pancakes and toppings so you can build your own bites. New Zealand green mussels and sea snails round out the molluscs, while the chilled crustacean line-up covers steamed Golden king crab legs, Canadian lobster, poached river prawns, white prawns and swimmer crab — with a fiery Thai-style seafood sauce on hand if you want heat.

The BBQ station keeps the surf coming: dill-marinated salmon, tiger prawns with caper butter, and the standout Kung Ob Samun Phrai — Sri Lankan river prawns roasted with Thai herbs and served with peanut chilli sauce. Carnivores get their due too, with New Zealand lamb T-bone and Australian wagyu steak, plus a carvery of herb-roasted Australian beef striploin and a whole salmon baked in rock salt and Thai herbs.

There's plenty beyond the shellfish. A Chinese station serves a BBQ trio of roasted duck wraps, crispy pork belly and char siu alongside dim sum. Japanese fans get sashimi, freshly made nigiri and maki, and tempura. At the live cooking station you order pasta via table cards and it's brought out hot — the spinach ravioli in truffle sauce gets a specific shout-out. Dessert runs from crêpes Suzette (Nutella, strawberry or chocolate) and Thai mango sticky rice to a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit.

On Friday and Saturday nights, live music from 6.30 to 9.30pm adds to the occasion.

Practically speaking, the buffet runs 6–10.30pm. Weeknights (Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday) cost 2,250++ baht per person, rising to 2,350++ on Friday and Saturday. Drinks packages start at 200++ baht for unlimited juices and soft drinks, 900++ for bubbles and brews, and 2,300++ for endless Champagne. Prices exclude the 10% service charge and taxes. The hotel sits within easy reach of BTS Chidlom station, and reservations can be made by phone at +66 (0) 2 656 0444, via dining.bkkhb@ihg.com, or through the hotel's website.

For travellers staying around the Ratchaprasong shopping district — or anyone flying into Bangkok who wants a splurge night without a weekend-only schedule — this fills a handy gap. It's a fit for couples after a treat, small groups celebrating something, or visitors who'd rather book a buffet they can plan any day from Wednesday onwards. If champagne-fuelled seafood is your idea of a holiday evening, aim for Friday or Saturday to catch the live music; if you're watching the wallet, Sunday delivers the same menu a touch cheaper.
