If you've floated through a spa at an Atmosphere-affiliated resort in the Maldives, chances are you've encountered ELE|NA. The wellness brand, launched in the Maldives eleven years ago, is marking its anniversary this November with a theme that sums up its pitch: 11 Years, One Essence.

The milestone comes with some fresh hardware. ELE|NA picked up Leading Wellness Brand of the Year at the South Asian Travel Awards 2026, while its skincare offshoot, ELE|NA Essentia, was named Emerging Skincare Brand of the Year at the Destination Deluxe Awards 2025. More notable for eco-conscious travellers: all eight of its Maldivian sanctuaries now hold Platinum — the top tier — of the Sustainable Spa & Wellness Accreditation, after three straight years at Gold.

So what's actually on offer? This year the brand rolled out its Pillars of Vitality, six treatment streams — TouchFlow, ReFine, BodyFit, SoulVibe, SleepSync and FoodDelight — that structure everything from massage to sleep and nutrition programmes while still leaving room to tailor the experience. A handful of sanctuaries also offer QEST4 bio-energetic assessments, a tech-driven way of personalising therapies. There's training depth behind it too: the ELE|NA Wellness Academy, endorsed by CIBTAC, runs Reiki and sound healing courses for practitioners.

The anniversary itself has some charm for anyone staying at a participating resort in early November. Alongside sunrise yoga, sound healing, tree planting and botanical workshops, every sanctuary pauses at 11:11 AM on 1 November for a shared breathing and wish-making ritual — a small, slightly twee, but genuinely communal moment.

The bigger news for the region is expansion. ELE|NA has already appeared at Sadar Manzil Heritage by Atmosphere in Bhopal, and opens ELE|NA Ayur at Ananta Spa & Resort in Ajabgarh on 1 November, with OZEN Villas Jaipur and a property in Coorg to follow. Its Essentia skincare line — made in India from Indian botanicals — is launching there too, and Sri Lanka and Nepal are next on the roadmap.

Why should a traveller care? If wellness is the point of your trip rather than an add-on, ELE|NA is one of the few homegrown Maldivian spa brands with real scale and third-party sustainability credentials. Platinum accreditation across an entire resort portfolio is rare, and it signals that the eco promises in the brochure have been independently checked. And if you're an India-based traveller who loves the Maldivian approach but can't always make the long-haul hop, the brand is now coming closer to you — with an Ayurveda-leaning format at Ajabgarh that should suit the setting.

For Maldives-bound guests, the practical takeaway is simple: when comparing resorts under the Atmosphere family, the spa experience will differ by island, but the underlying philosophy — nature-led, personalised, sustainability-first — now comes with eleven years and a Platinum stamp behind it.
