Dusit Hotels and Resorts has mapped out two very different festive season programmes in the Maldives, both built around the same inspiration: the ocean. One is a tranquil, nature-heavy escape in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; the other is a party-forward, all-inclusive island a short speedboat hop from the airport.
At Dusit Thani Maldives on Mudhdhoo Island in Baa Atoll, the Ocean Carnival programme leans into the resort's setting on a vibrant house reef. It kicks off with a Christmas tree lighting at Sand Bar on 21 December, followed by a beachfront lobster BBQ, a bartender flairing show, Santa's Christmas morning arrival and a family set dinner at Sea Grill. Between the holidays there's a pool party and a 'Jungle Night' at Coconut Grove — a tropical BBQ evening with a playful Jurassic twist and live Maldivian Boduberu drumming. New Year's Eve brings a cocktail reception, a gala dinner and party at Market Beach with live music and DJs, and midnight fireworks to welcome 2027. The programme wraps on 3 January with a Thai street food market and traditional dance at the resort's Benjarong restaurant.
Over at dusitD2 Feydhoo Maldives, just seven minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport, Reef & Rhythm is a louder affair. This Premium All-Inclusive resort starts festivities on 10 December with a sunset cocktail soirée and tree lighting at SOI Beach, then rolls through Christmas Eve feasts and LED parties, poolside music, and food events like Streets of Thailand and Seafood, Sax & Champagne — seafood and sparkling wine with live sax on the beach. There's cultural depth too, via a Discover the 26 Atolls experience showcasing local crafts and traditions, plus family-friendly touches like Cinema Under the Stars. Its NYE gala on SOI Beach runs from a sunset saxophone set through an international dinner and stage entertainment to the countdown, then a DJ after-party into the small hours.
The upshot for travellers: choose your festive style. If you want social energy, pool parties and easy access from Malé, dusitD2 Feydhoo does the job without a seaplane transfer. If you'd rather trade noise for reef snorkelling and quiet luxury in Baa Atoll, Dusit Thani's carnival is the calmer bet. Either way, book early — Maldives resorts fill up fast for the Christmas and New Year window.
