Beer with dinner just got a discount. Carlsberg Asia has joined forces with Grab for a limited-run campaign across Hanoi and Hue, running from 13 October to 21 November 2026, that pairs curated food-and-beer matches with real money off your bill and your ride.
The idea came out of a trip by Carlsberg's Master Brewer, Zoran Gojkovic, who toured Southeast Asian kitchens matching local dishes with beers from the company's portfolio. In Vietnam, the result is a set of pairing trails you can browse in the GrabDineOut section of the app, then follow straight to partner restaurants.
In Hanoi, the pairings lean on Halida and Carlsberg. Halida Draught is matched with the field crab hot pot, salt-and-pepper frog legs and chilli-salt grilled sturgeon at Nhà Hàng Sông Tiền, and with fried fermented pork rolls and barbecue at Bia Phố Đêm on Tạ Hiện street. For something more refined, Carlsberg's clean finish cuts through fermented pork wrapped with lobster at Sin Gallery Eatery & Bar, and refreshes the palate against the citrusy, warming mắc khén pepper on grilled pork cheeks at LIT Restobar.
Hue's line-up centres on Huda, a beer with deep roots in Central Vietnam. At Bún Bò Bà Nga, it's the counterpoint to the city's famous spicy beef broth, while Ý Thảo Garden pairs it with royal-inspired small plates — bánh bèo, bánh nậm, bánh lọc, bánh khoái and phoenix sausage spring rolls. At TÀ VẸT, Huda Ice Twist joins a modern sharing menu of beef with pickled eggplants, cold cuts, crispy pork belly and shrimp.
The deals themselves are straightforward. At dine-out venues (LIT Restobar and Ý Thảo Garden), ordering any Carlsberg Vietnam beer — Carlsberg, Huda, Halida, Tuborg or 1664 Blanc — gets you 30% off the bill up to VND 500,000, plus round-trip GrabBike or GrabCar vouchers. Transport-only venues offer 20% off rides to the restaurant, capped at VND 50,000, between 5 pm and 10 pm. Vouchers are limited and the promotion can end early once they run out.
For travellers, this is a handy nudge to eat where locals do. The partner list reads like a who's-who of everyday Hanoi and Hue dining rather than hotel restaurants — a crab hot pot joint in Định Công, a bun bo institution, a beer street bar in Hoàn Kiếm. If you're in either city before late November, the app does the pairing homework for you, and the ride discount removes the usual hassle of navigating to a neighbourhood you don't know. Just note the evening window on transport deals and bring a phone that's got Grab set up before you arrive.
