Hyatt's lifestyle brand Andaz has never had an Australian outpost — until now. Andaz Gold Coast opens in Broadbeach later this year, marking the brand's first property in both Australia and the wider Pacific region.
The 202-key hotel pairs architecture by DBI Architects with interiors from Hachem, and the design brief leans heavily on its setting: rooms and public spaces are themed around the shifting light of a Gold Coast day, from bright Pacific sunrise tones to the warmer colours of dusk over the hinterland. Floor-to-ceiling windows in every room are clearly central to that idea, and a residential, laid-back feel is the stated goal throughout.
Room types scale up nicely. Select rooms come with private outdoor space, while suites add large living and entertaining areas, deep soaking tubs and dual vanities. The top-end Andaz Residence Suite goes further with an expansive entertainer's terrace and indoor-outdoor living aimed at longer stays and private gatherings.
Food and drink follows the familiar Andaz playbook of social, design-led spaces. Nove Restaurant and Bar does Mediterranean cooking through a modern Australian lens, built around fire-led cooking, shared plates and local produce. Vista Lounge is the all-day social hub, Verde Bar targets golden-hour cocktails, and the Andaz Pool Club outside covers cabanas, lounging and poolside dining. There's also a Technogym-equipped fitness centre and a program of local experiences intended to push guests beyond the hotel walls.
Location is a big part of the pitch. Broadbeach puts guests moments from the beach, the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the suburb's restaurants, nightlife and shopping all on the doorstep.
For travellers, this is less about a single hotel and more about a new option in a destination long dominated by big resort brands. Andaz properties tend to skew design-forward and social rather than family-resort, so if you've found Gold Coast accommodation a bit same-old, this could shake things up — particularly for couples and design-minded visitors who want walkable beachside access plus a serious food and cocktail scene in-house.
