The famous Le Gavroche closed its London doors for good in early 2024, but its food lives on — at sea. Cunard has confirmed that chef Michel Roux will return to Queen Anne for another round of Culinary Residencies, with five sailings scheduled between May 2027 and June 2028. Since the original Mayfair restaurant no longer exists anywhere on land, these ships' dinners are now the only place on the planet you can eat Le Gavroche's cuisine.

The dates are set: Norway on 2 May 2027, back-to-back Norwegian Fjords voyages on 29 August and 5 September 2027, then Norway and Denmark on 21 May 2028 and the Norwegian Fjords again on 4 June 2028. Each is a Northern Europe itinerary, pairing the tasting menus with fjord scenery from the deck.

The main event happens at Sir Samuels, an intimate venue capped at just 50 covers a night. There, guests get a curated tasting menu drawing on Le Gavroche's heritage dishes. Roux himself is present throughout the voyage — not just in the kitchen — with live cooking demonstrations, Cunard Insights talks, question-and-answer sessions and book signings worked into the schedule.

The residency spreads beyond the one restaurant, too. Everyone on these sailings gets an exclusive three-course Gala menu in the main dining rooms, and the Carinthia Lounge runs an enhanced Oysters at Carinthia seafood menu every evening.

Le Gavroche at Sea launched in 2024 and has sold well enough to return every year since — 2025, 2026 and now another two seasons. Cunard president Paul Ludlow credited the "extraordinary" guest response, and it's easy to see the appeal: a two-Michelin-starred name, a tiny dining room, and a chef who is actually on board rather than lending his name from afar.

For food-focused travellers, this is a rare second chance. Le Gavroche was a fixture of British fine dining for over five decades, and getting a seat at a farewell tasting menu in London was near impossible once the closure was announced. Here the maths is friendlier — 50 guests a night across five sailings — though demand for the whole ship is likely to spike once bookings open. If a fjords cruise was already on your list, timing one of these dates could turn a scenic trip into a proper culinary pilgrimage. Just note the sailing dates well in advance: the two 2027 fjords departures are only a week apart, so availability will thin quickly.
