Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein's new Netflix rom-com Office Romance puts two very different worlds on screen: corporate New Jersey and a dreamy private island in the Caribbean. The good news for fans is that almost every location is real and visitable — including the showstopper, the fictional Cayo Escondido hotel.

That hotel is actually Cayo Levantado Resort, a luxury all-inclusive on its own small island in Samaná Bay in the Dominican Republic. It reopened in 2023 after a major renovation and is now often ranked among the country's most exclusive stays. Standard rooms typically run $800–$1,700 a night, though seasonal deals can dip to around $650–$900. The remote-looking beach scenes were also shot on the same island, so guests can literally walk off the film set into the sea.

The office half of the story was stitched together across New Jersey. The AirCruz headquarters is the NEST campus at the Northeast Science and Technology Center in Kenilworth — the former global headquarters of pharma giant Merck. Lopez's character's Manhattan office exterior is 14 Wall Street, the neoclassical 1912 skyscraper with the distinctive pyramid top, once home to Bankers Trust. Other spots include the Cliffs Lofts, a converted industrial building turned luxury apartments in Jersey City, and the Holland Tunnel, which gets its own moment connecting Manhattan to New Jersey.

A few quirkier locations round things out: opening scenes were filmed at Don Coqui, a Latin Caribbean restaurant on the Hudson waterfront with Manhattan skyline views, and at Hunan Taste, a Chinese restaurant in Denville. The prison scenes used the East Jersey State Prison in Avenel, a 1901 complex that has doubled as a movie set many times. Jackie's home is a genuine 1910 Tudor manor in Montclair — about 8,000 square feet with an indoor pool and carriage house, valued at over $4 million — and one dinner scene takes place at Rod's Steak and Seafood Grille in Morristown, a fine-dining institution running since 1951.

For travellers, this is a two-for-one screen-tourism story. You can pair a city break in New York and New Jersey, ticking off Wall Street, the waterfront restaurants and Jersey City lofts, with a splurge stay in Samaná Bay where the film's most escenic moments happen. Even if the nightly rate is steep, Samaná as a region is far more accessible — whale-watching season, waterfalls and the peninsula's beaches make it a strong Dominican destination in its own right, with or without the Hollywood connection.
