A fresh wave of hotel debuts is landing between now and 2027, and the spread is genuinely global: safari camps in Tanzania, a first-for-Africa EDITION in Cape Town, a Kengo Kuma-designed hideaway on the Italian coast and a Maldivian mega-resort with Wolfgang Puck cooking at it. Here's what to know before you book.
In Cape Town, Marriott's EDITION brand has finally reached Africa. The Cape Town EDITION opened October 27 at Quay 7 on the V&A Waterfront, a working harbour with Table Mountain as the backdrop. Expect 142 rooms styled with nods to 19th-century travel trunks, art including Zulu Ukhamba vessels and glasswork from Eswatini, plus a rooftop bar and a Punch Room that revives an old-fashioned drinking ritual. It's arguably the most exciting luxury opening in the city right now.
Safari fans have two reasons to watch the calendar. Mereshi Safari Camp Serengeti, an Autograph Collection property, opens this November near Fort Ikoma Gate with 18 elevated tented suites across 55 acres of savannah — and a social mission to match, including training young Tanzanian women for careers in tourism. Come next spring, Rainforest Expeditions adds Kuaii Amazonas to the Peruvian Amazon: 22 open-air rooms, a canopy tower, Lake Tres Chimbadas excursions and visits to the Ese Eja community of Infierno.
Europe gets a handful of big names too. Paris's 1st arrondissement welcomes L'Adrienne Vendôme next spring, a 156-room Autograph Collection conversion of the old Renaissance Vendôme on the former site of the Hôtel de Noailles — where the Lafayettes once hosted Franklin, Adams and Jefferson. Delano London opens early next year overlooking Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park with 67 keys, a Rose Bar and Mediterranean-leaning restaurant Lana Lusa. Madrid gains Casa Verbena, the first European outing for Hilton's Outset Collection — just 45 rooms on Calle de Preciados with landmark views. And in May, ROMEO Massa Lubrense arrives on Italy's Punta San Lorenzo, designed by Kengo Kuma around the Japanese idea of dissolving buildings into the landscape, with three-Michelin-starred Quattro Passi as its restaurant.
The alpine and tropical showpieces round things out. Fouquet's Gstaad opens in December with just 33 rooms and suites plus a nine-bedroom chalet, a Zuma restaurant and a serious spa (sauna, hammam, snow shower) built on partnerships with Augustinus Bader and Seed to Skin Tuscany. In 2027, Maxx Royal Maldives spreads across five interconnected islands as the Turkish brand's first resort outside Türkiye, with Spago, Leña and Caviar Kaspia among the dining line-up and a marine biology centre focused on coral restoration.
If you're plotting a trip for next year or beyond, these openings are worth building itineraries around — especially Cape Town for a first look, Gstaad for a winter escape, or the Serengeti and Amazon if wildlife is the point. Book early on the small properties; 33 rooms and 18 tents go fast.
