A new entry in the Maldives' ultra-luxury race takes minimalism to its logical extreme: an entire private island with just two residences on it. Nowhere, the second island from the .Here brand in Baa Atoll, opened to complete a two-island concept of only nine residences across the pair — making it one of the smallest resort footprints in the country.

Its sibling, Somewhere, opened in December 2025 and is built around gathering and shared experience. Nowhere is the opposite pole. Both residences can be booked together as a single, fully private island, an idea the brand calls the "Art of Duality": celebrate with a crowd on one island, or disappear entirely on the other.

The numbers are striking. The five-bedroom Presidential Residence covers more than 25,800 square feet, while the three-bedroom Overwater Residence adds another 10,000-plus square feet over the lagoon. Each is designed for self-contained living — private cinema, fitness studio, steam and sauna, plus the Fehi Wellness couples treatment room. A dedicated one-to-one Roohu butler anchors the service, backed by a private chef and mixology team for 24-hour in-residence dining.

Singapore-based architect Christopher Chua of KulörGroup shaped the buildings around restraint: big volumes, clean proportions and open horizons that let the atoll do the talking. Interiors by Inge Moore and Muza Lab lean on natural materials and soft, tonal palettes drawn from the surroundings. The development also claims an environmentally driven design process, with building placement and materials chosen to limit impact inside the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that covers Baa Atoll.

Seclusion doesn't mean isolation. Guests can eat at SAFAR, the brand's overwater restaurant, where Executive Chef Georgios Vasilopoulos runs a seafood-forward menu built around fire-led Josper Grill cooking; SAFAR Bar pairs it with journey-inspired cocktails. Private dining can be staged on sandbanks or terraces, and Fehi Wellness offers bespoke programmes and a yoga chamber exclusive to island guests. Crucially, staying on either island also unlocks complimentary access to everything at sister resort Finolhu — so you can have total privacy and a full resort's restaurants and facilities in the same trip.

For travellers, this sits firmly at the top of the market: the kind of place aimed at families or groups who want an island to themselves rather than a villa in a larger resort. If a booking budget can't stretch to Nowhere alone, the nine-residence scale across both islands still puts .Here among the most exclusive options in Baa Atoll — a region already known for manta ray season and protected marine life. Anyone weighing the Maldives' big names — Soneva, Patina, the Ritz-Carlton reserve — should now add this two-island experiment to the list.
