Sunnyvale, right in the middle of Silicon Valley, is getting a hotel that leans fully into its tech surroundings — but keeps a few surprises up its sleeve. M Social Hotel Sunnyvale, part of Millennium Hotels and Resorts, is taking reservations now for stays from mid-December, with cash rates starting at $239 per night.
The property has 263 rooms and suites designed with a modern, residential feel — the idea being to serve business travellers, extended-stay guests and holidaymakers equally well. True to its Silicon Valley address, the hotel runs as a connected smart building: expect mobile room keys, self-service check-in kiosks, robotic service assistants and an AI assistant inside the rooms. The hotel's general manager, Jakub Skyvara, sums up the approach as technology removing friction while people create the memories.
Food and drink get plenty of attention too. Beast & Butterflies is the main restaurant, cooking modern Californian dishes over live fire with ingredients from local farms, plus partnerships with nearby wineries and breweries. If you'd rather keep things casual, ctrl+B(ar) pours coffee and cocktails in a lounge setting built for mingling. For events, there's the Quantum Ballroom with its LED video wall, alongside a range of meeting and conference spaces aimed at the corporate groups that flock to the area.
The detail everyone's talking about, though, is the rooftop beehive — a deliberate nod to nature in a neighbourhood famous for code. It's the brand's first West Coast outpost, joining existing M Social hotels in Singapore, Paris and several New York locations. Frequent guests can plug into the free MyMillennium loyalty programme to earn and redeem points on stays and dining.
Who's this for? Anyone visiting the Bay Area beyond San Francisco — whether that's a work trip, visiting family in the South Bay, or exploring the region's less obvious corners. Sunnyvale itself rewards getting outside, and cycling is a good way to see the city beyond the office campuses. If you're hunting a design-led, tech-forward stay at a rate well below downtown San Francisco prices, this one's worth a look when it opens in December.
