East Singapore's Tampines 1 is going all-in on Halloween this year with a two-part event that mixes a horror maze with a surprisingly hands-on craft session. The annual Scaretacular returns from mid-October, and the 2026 edition gives its signature haunted maze a proper upgrade.
The headline act is Toy Factory 444, staged on the mall's rooftop from 17-18, 22-25 and 29 October to 1 November, running 7pm to 11pm with last entry at 10.30pm. Instead of the usual walk-through haunted house, this one is gamified: you're dropped into an eerie abandoned factory, and getting out means finding clues and completing missions while the scares pile on. Think escape room logic crossed with a haunted maze, with the organisers promising darker twists than previous years.
Tickets cost $10 per person, but there's a shopping workaround. Spend at least $100 in the mall (across up to three same-day receipts) and you can redeem two tickets; hit $150 and you get four. Redemptions run from 25 September to 1 November.
Down in the Main Atrium, the creepy-toy theme continues with a different kind of activity. From 5-11 October, shoppers who hit the $150 spend can also redeem a blind box plushie from either the Grumpipi or OPanDee Zombie Party series — horror-adjacent but firmly on the cute side. The real hook is the free customisation zone, a collaboration between blind box retailer Box Hunt and the Singapore Fashion Council. You decorate your new plushie using recycled materials, with staff on hand to help if your sewing skills are shaky. Redemption runs 10am-10pm, with the customisation activity open 12pm-9pm daily.
For travellers, this is a good excuse to see a different side of Singapore beyond the usual downtown circuit. Tampines 1 sits right by Tampines MRT in the heartlands, about 30-40 minutes from the city centre, and October visitors can time a shopping trip to double as an evening of entertainment — do the mall in the afternoon, then take on the rooftop maze after dark. It's also a budget-friendly night out: even paying full price, the maze is $10, which is cheap by theme-attraction standards anywhere.
Just plan ahead. The maze runs on select dates only and entry is timed, so check the schedule before you go, and keep your receipts from the same day if you're chasing the free tickets or plushie. And if your newly customised zombie plushie seems to follow you with its eyes back at the hotel — that's on you.
