United Airlines has quietly added a second wave of route news for summer 2027, and this one is all about shorter hops. A week after its big international announcement, the carrier confirmed four new or returning domestic and near-international routes touching six cities — with Bermuda and its San Francisco hub the big winners.

The headline addition for beach-seekers is a seasonal nonstop from Chicago O'Hare to Bermuda, launching April 3. It will run weekly through the summer, joining United's existing Newark service to the island, and giving Midwest travellers a one-flight option for the pink-sand Atlantic territory that sits roughly 650 miles off the North Carolina coast. United plans to fly a Boeing 737 family aircraft on the route.

San Francisco gets the bulk of the attention, with three routes. From March 28, United will fly daily to Hartford, Connecticut (Bradley International) and to Oklahoma City — the latter being a route the airline dropped in April 2020 and hasn't operated since. The Oklahoma flights will run on Embraer 175 regional jets, while the Hartford service joins the 737 category.

The third SFO route is arguably the most enticing for holiday planners: four weekly round-trips to Charleston, South Carolina, running from March 28 through November 29. It's a new transcontinental link between the Bay Area and one of the American South's most popular city-break destinations, with its historic district, food scene and easy access to the Lowcountry coastline. Word of the expansion was first reported by Ishrion Aviation before United confirmed the details.

Why it matters: this is good news on two fronts. First, Bermudaholidays from the Midwest become far simpler — a weekly nonstop is enough for a long weekend or a week away if you time it right. Second, San Francisco flyers get more one-stop-free options on the East Coast, including a revived route to Oklahoma that's been absent for most of the post-pandemic era. For points and miles enthusiasts, these early announcements are also worth flagging: new routes often have award seats available well before launch, so it may pay to book United MileagePlus redemptions for spring 2027 sooner rather than later.

United's move follows a cluster of new Canada routes announced days earlier, including service to St. John's, Newfoundland — its easternmost Canadian point — as the airline deepens ties with Air Canada. The pattern is clear: United is spreading its hub strength in all directions for 2027, and travellers on both coasts and in the middle of the country stand to benefit.
