Riding around Singapore usually means feeding carparks all day, but it doesn't have to. A rundown of free motorcycle parking across the island shows there are 13 places where riders can leave their bikes without paying, including some spots you'd never expect — like right on Orchard Road and around Marina Bay.
In the city centre, the pickings are surprisingly good. Concorde Hotel Singapore offers free motorcycle lots near the 313@Somerset and Orchard Central shopping stretch, though riders should note a quirk: the free bays sit before the carpark gantry, and if those are full, sliding through the left side of the gantry (not the right) keeps you off paid parking. The Esplanade carpark near City Hall is free subject to availability and open 24 hours, putting Marina Square, the National Gallery and Raffles City within walking distance. Suntec City offers free motorcycle parking every day including public holidays, and Kallang Wave Mall covers you for concerts or matches at the National Stadium and Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Dempsey Hill is another central option — handy if you're planning a leisurely cafe-hopping afternoon, since parking won't add a cent to the bill. Over in Thomson, Mount Alvernia Hospital offers free parking that doubles as a base for MacRitchie Reservoir's walking trails just across the road.
Out east, IKEA Tampines is free daily (though only 8am to 11pm), with Giant and COURTS next door for a one-stop errand run. KINEX at Paya Lebar has free motorcycle parking on Level 2 — no barrier at all — and works well if the surrounding malls are packed. E!Hub at Downtown East covers anyone heading to the Wild Wild Wet water park.
Up north, the WEST and EAST carparks at Mandai Wildlife Reserve are free for motorcycles, which takes a little sting out of a pricey day at the Singapore Zoo or Bird Paradise. Orchid Country Club in Yishun has nearly 600 free lots (look for the yellow public bays; red ones are member-only) beside Lower Seletar Reservoir. In the west, Jelita Mall in Bukit Timah has open-air free motorcycle bays near the Rail Corridor, and The Chevrons club near Jurong East — home to a climbing gym and padel courts — is a useful stop before hitting nearby IMM.
Nearly all of these are free all day, every day. The main caveat: park only in designated motorcycle bays, and double-check on-site signage before leaving your bike, since rates and arrangements can change without much notice.
For riders — locals or travellers who rent bikes on holiday — this is the kind of list worth screenshotting. Motorcyclists already pay less than cars in Singapore, but free is free, and a saved parking fee is more money for food, attractions or petrol. Bookmark the ones near your usual routes and you'll rarely feed a gantry again.
