Celebrity Cruises' next new ship won't be easing into service somewhere obscure. Celebrity Xcite, the sixth vessel in the line's Edge Series, will spend its inaugural 2028 season doing weeklong runs out of Miami, calling at St. Thomas, Antigua, the British Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Maarten and the Dominican Republic on rotating itineraries. Bookings opened on November 3, 2026, as part of what Celebrity calls its biggest Caribbean programme yet.

The Xcite announcement is the headline act, but the wider 2028-2029 Caribbean schedule has plenty for regular cruisers. Departures will run from four Florida ports — Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Cape Canaveral and Tampa — and one change in particular stands out: Celebrity Beyond will run nine three-night weekend sailings from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas between November 2028 and March 2029. Those are the first short cruises ever offered on an Edge Series ship, a cheap-ish way to try the class without committing a full week.

The longer haul options push well south. Celebrity Silhouette will run its first full summer season of eight- to 12-night cruises taking in Barbados, Martinique, Saint Lucia and Grenada, then shift to seven-night sailings from San Juan, Puerto Rico from October, with five port days per sailing. Celebrity Xcel adds six- and eight-night Fort Lauderdale departures covering the ABC islands — Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao — alongside Western Caribbean routes to Mexico, Honduras and Grand Cayman. Beyond will also mix in eight- to 11-night itineraries including six Panama Canal transits, while Ascent and Eclipse handle the nine- to 12-night end of the range.

Elsewhere in the fleet, Celebrity Apex returns to Cape Canaveral for Eastern and Western Caribbean runs, Constellation sails seven nights from Tampa to Key West, The Bahamas and the Western Caribbean, and the newly renovated Celebrity Reflection (post-March 2027) continues year-round Fort Lauderdale service on six- to eight-night itineraries. Some Bahamas sailings will include a stop at Royal Beach Club Paradise Island in Nassau.

Why it matters: if you've been curious about the Edge Series ships but balked at the price of a week aboard, the three-night Beyond weekends are the easiest entry point yet. And cruisers who've done the standard Eastern Caribbean loop to death now have genuine deep-south options — Grenada, Barbados and the ABCs — from Florida and San Juan, including in summer, when fares tend to dip.

Mark the dates if you're tempted: winter 2028-2029 sailings, including Xcite's debut season, are bookable now; summer 2028 itineraries go on sale December 9, 2026.
