If you carry an eligible Chase credit card, you may already be entitled to a complimentary DoorDash DashPass membership — and possibly monthly discounts on top. Most people never activate it, which is essentially free savings left on the table.

DashPass is DoorDash's subscription program, normally priced at $9.99 a month. Members get $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders that hit a minimum subtotal, 5% back in DoorDash credits on pickup orders, and access to member-only offers. The perks also extend to eligible orders placed through Caviar. DoorDash says the average member saves about $5 per eligible order, so even light users come out ahead when the membership is free.

The length of the complimentary period depends on your card. Premium cards like the Sapphire Reserve come with at least 12 months of DashPass when activated by December 31, 2029, plus up to $35 in monthly DoorDash promos — $15 off one eligible order and $10 off two non-restaurant orders. The Sapphire Preferred offers a similar 12-month membership with up to $10 off a non-restaurant order each month. Chase's cobranded hotel and airline cards, such as the World of Hyatt Credit Card and United Explorer Card, carry varying benefits running through December 31, 2027. Entry-level Freedom cards like the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited get six months of DashPass when activated by the end of 2029, with a $10 non-restaurant credit each quarter.

Those non-restaurant promos are easy to overlook but genuinely useful — they apply to grocery stores, convenience stores and other retailers on the platform, not just takeout. One caveat: unused promo value doesn't roll over, so use it or lose it each month or quarter.

Activation takes a couple of minutes. Log into your DoorDash account (or create one), set your eligible Chase card as the default payment method, and follow the prompts to switch on DashPass. One trap to watch: when your complimentary period ends, DoorDash auto-enrols you at the full $9.99 monthly rate. If you don't want to pay, cancel before it expires.

Worth remembering too that DoorDash and dining spend on Chase cards earns Ultimate Rewards points, which can be transferred to airline and hotel partners — so delivery nights can quietly build toward your next trip.

Who is this for? Anyone in the US with a Chase card in their wallet who orders delivery even occasionally. Check your card's terms to confirm what you're entitled to, activate before the relevant deadline, and set a calendar reminder for when the free period runs out. If you already have the card, there's no reason not to claim it; if you're comparing cards, the DoorDash bundle is a nice sweetener on top of the travel rewards.
