Delta is putting another pin on its Austin map. From March 7, 2027, the airline will fly nonstop between Austin-Bergstrom International and Northwest Arkansas National Airport in Bentonville, once a day on a 76-seat Embraer 175 flown by SkyWest under the Delta Connection banner. Tickets are already on sale: round-trip fares start at $159 in Main Basic, $249 in Main Classic and $387 in Main Extra.

The schedule works like a business-day shuttle. Flight DL3625 leaves Bentonville at 6:00 AM and lands in Austin at 7:50 AM after roughly an hour and 50 minutes in the air. The return, DL3626, pushes back from Austin at 8:59 PM and touches down in Bentonville at 10:49 PM. Snacks and drinks are included on board.

Why Bentonville? It is home base to Walmart, the world's largest retailer, which drives heavy corporate travel demand in and out of Northwest Arkansas. Delta is clearly confident in the route — it has form here. Its Salt Lake City nonstop from the same airport launched last year with a self-described "use it or lose it" pitch, and the route survived its trial period and stuck around.

The Bentonville flight becomes Delta's fifth destination from the Arkansas airport, where it is the number two carrier behind American. Delta holds about a 20.4% share of flights there, carrying roughly 512,000 passengers in the year to April 2026, against American's 48.5% share and 1.2 million passengers. United, Allegiant and Breeze round out the top five.

The bigger story is Austin. Delta has been building steadily at AUS — rumours swirl it could become the airline's tenth hub — as tech employers like Tesla, Google and Amazon swell the city's corporate traffic. Delta is now the airport's second-largest operator after Southwest, and it is committing further: a new nonstop to Paris CDG starts in March 2027, the same month the Bentonville route begins. All of this lands while Austin's airport works through a $5 billion redevelopment that will run into the next decade.

For travellers, the practical upside is simple: a same-day round trip between Central Texas and Northwest Arkansas becomes possible without a connection, useful whether you are heading to Walmart's corporate orbit, the Ozark trails or Bentonville's surprisingly strong food and mountain-biking scene. Austin's live music capital gains yet another direct link as Delta squares up to United, American and Southwest in Texas.
