Here's an odd quirk for anyone eyeing a spot at Worthy Farm: Glastonbury is taking 2026 off. The festival's traditional fallow year means the next chance to camp in Somerset's muddy fields is June 2027, and the race for tickets will be one of the most competitive yet — demand routinely outstrips supply by a huge margin, with past sales selling out in under an hour.

The system itself is well established. Tickets go on sale in two waves, typically in November for the following-but-one summer: coach-and-travel packages first (booked through a separate partner), then standard tickets a few days later. You register in advance at glastonbury.co.uk with a photo that gets checked against your ID at the gate, and registration usually closes shortly before the sale — leaving it late is how most people miss out. Each buyer can book up to six tickets in one transaction, and you pay only a deposit upfront (recently around £75 per ticket), with the balance due in early spring.

For 2025, a standard ticket cost £373.50 plus a £5 booking fee, and prices for 2027 are expected to sit higher, given the festival has signalled continued cost pressures. The coach packages, which drop first, are genuinely a smart play: a meaningful share of tickets is held back for them, so the odds are better than in the standard sale. Note that if you go the coach route, you must actually board that coach — no-shows forfeit tickets.

If the sale gets away from you, all is not lost. The spring resale of returned deposits and cancellations usually happens in March or April, again split between coach and standard tickets. And if you're really committed, working a shift with a charity, Oxfam, WaterAid or Greenpeace, or one of the festival's staffing partners can get you through the gates in exchange for a few shifts.

Why care? Glastonbury is arguably the UK's single biggest cultural event — roughly 210,000 people, six days of music and performance across dozens of stages, and a line-up that has ranged from pop superstars to legends reforming specifically for the Pyramid Stage. If 2027 is on your list, the practical takeaway is simple: register early, pick your sale date, get your group logged in and coordinated (one payment, one delivery address, everyone ready to refresh at the same second), and have a fallback plan for the resale.
