Forget frost and fog — Halloween 2026 is shaping up to be a barefoot affair in the Maldives, where several resorts are stretching the spooky season into full-blown island festivals.

Leading the pack is Niva Kuramathi, which runs "A Spooktacular Island Adventure" from 26 October to 1 November 2026. This is a proper seven-day programme rather than a single party: mornings cover creepy creature crafts, wand-making and witch's potion sessions, while the island's Eco Centre introduces kids to the nocturnal animals that wake at dusk. There are pumpkin races, a garden treasure hunt, monster mini-Olympics, Halloween yoga, beach games and a haunted sandcastle-building session on the shore. Evenings ramp things up with a zombie dance party — parents can expect to see the stiff-armed shuffle and the head-bob for days afterwards — and Halloween itself brings coconut-painting, costumes, the Bageecha Trick-or-Treat event and a pool party under the lights.

Over at Reethi Faru Resort, the celebration is a one-day affair on 31 October, but a packed one. The afternoon belongs to younger guests with face painting and themed games, before the whole island shifts into an evening Halloween costume party with a DJ, dancing and entertainment. The resort's chefs are preparing a themed buffet mixing international and local dishes, and the bars will pour Halloween cocktails as the lagoon does its moonlit backdrop thing.

Kuredhivaru Resort and Spa spreads its festivities across 30-31 October, with Kids Club sessions, costume creations, a "Rising Star" Halloween fashion show, pumpkin carving, themed dining and creative workshops. That sits within a wider seasonal programme: a six-course Japanese-Peruvian cocktail dinner on 26 September paired with drinks from award-winning bartender Norihiko Furuse, and an Oktoberfest on 3 October serving pork knuckle, sausages, pretzels and apple strudel with live music.

If you're weighing up where to stay over the period, ROBINSON NOONU in Noonu Atoll is also worth a look — it picked up the Best Fun & Friendly Resort title at the TTM Awards 2026 for the second time, thanks partly to its house reef, sports programme and strong kids' and teens' clubs.

Why it matters: the Maldives has a reputation as a couples-only, overwater-villa kind of place, but October half-term falls right at the start of the dry season, and these programmes make a genuine case for a family Halloween abroad. Book early if you want villa space during school holidays, and pack costumes — while resorts will have activities covered, a suitcase-friendly outfit goes a long way at the costume parties.
