Beauty fans in Toronto's west end have something new to add to their shopping lists. Sephora Canada appears to be opening a store in Liberty Village, the converted industrial neighbourhood that's become one of the city's most recognisable pockets of condos, cafés and studios.

The evidence so far is unofficial but pretty convincing. Signage has gone up at 171 East Liberty St., in the space that previously housed the 8 Temple presentation gallery, and locals have been posting about it on TikTok — creator @teagsintoronto shared a clip flagging the spot. Sephora itself has also been quietly confirming the move in its own way: the company has published job postings hiring staff for a Liberty Village location. When a retailer is recruiting before it's announced anything, the store is usually a sure thing.

As for timing, one listing offers a decent clue. Sephora is seeking a seasonal associate for the store "to support peak holiday operations," which strongly suggests doors will open in time for the Christmas shopping rush. No official date has been confirmed — Curiocity reached out to Sephora for comment and is waiting to hear back — but holiday shoppers may not have to trek downtown for their skincare restock much longer.

It's a quick follow-up to Sephora's other recent Toronto expansion: signage was also spotted for a new store at Stockyards Village, another west-end retail hub, earlier this year. The chain is clearly betting that more neighbourhood-scale stores, rather than just flagship malls locations, is where its Canadian growth lies.

For visitors, Liberty Village is worth knowing about anyway. It sits just west of downtown, a short streetcar ride from King and Queen West, packed with brick-and-beam lofts, breweries and patios — and it's walkable to the Entertainment District and the lakefront. If you're in Toronto over the holidays and fancy a shopping afternoon away from the Eaton Centre crowds, this new Sephora could slot neatly into a west-end wander, maybe paired with a stop in nearby Parkdale or a pint at one of the local breweries.

For locals, it simply means shorter lines. Liberty Village has long been a Sephora desert, with residents heading to Queen Street or Scarborough Town Centre for their fix. That changes soon.
