November is the sweet spot between autumn and the festive rush, and travel writers have been busy flagging where the deals are. The pickings range from snow-sure Alpine slopes to Indian Ocean sand, with a few surprises in between.
For an early ski fix, the French resort of Tignes is the safe bet. Its Val Claret village is the highest in the resort, the season kicks off on 28 November, and the Grande Motte glacier keeps conditions reliable when lower slopes are still bare. Peak Retreats is running 20 per cent off a week at the four-star Ynycio residence — a two-bedroom apartment sleeping four starts at £2,404, including a Le Shuttle crossing for the car.
If warmth matters more than powder, Morocco delivers early-20s temperatures without long-haul jet lag. Cruise fans have an unusually appealing option: a small-ship loop of the Atlantic islands on the 148-passenger Wind Spirit. Sailing from Tenerife on 26 November for 11 nights, the route calls at Fuerteventura, Madeira, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera, with prices from £1,779pp covering flights, a hotel night, full-board cruising and port fees.
Closer to home and cheaper still, Munich's Christmas market lights up Marienplatz from 20 November — bratwurst, mulled wine and Bavarian trinkets under the glow of the old town hall. Fred. Holidays has three nights with flights and four-star accommodation from £499pp.
There's a domestic cottage option too: a 14th-century stone house in Rye, Sussex, with a wood-burner, Aga and dog-friendly policy (up to two). Providence Cottage sleeps four and costs from £517 for a four-night stay in early November via Canine Cottages.
And for anyone ready to splurge, two standouts. In the Seychelles, Constance Ephelia spreads across a 296-acre nature park between two beaches on Mahé, with five pools, an adults-only zone and plenty for kids; Beachcomber Tours offers 10 nights full-board in a junior suite from £4,185pp. Alternatively, Venice the slow way: four nights at the Hotel Ca' Dei Conti, then an overnight hop to Paris aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express with meals and wines on board, returning by Eurostar — from £3,979pp with Kirker Holidays on 10 November.
The takeaway is that November rewards flexibility. Shoulder-season pricing means long-haul trips that cost far more in December or February, while European city breaks and self-catering cottages dip before the Christmas peak. Book soon for snow and sun options, since glacier openings and Goa's season-start flights fill quickly.
