Qatar Airways has laid out its most packed winter schedule yet, promising more than 170 destinations and close to 1,800 flights a week through its Doha hub from December 2026. For anyone weighing a long-haul trip this season, that usually means better times, more direct options and sharper fares on popular routes.
Beach lovers are among the big winners. Zanzibar returns to daily service from 25 October, the Seychelles climbs from four to seven weekly flights from 1 March 2027, and Johannesburg jumps to 18 flights a week from December. In Asia Pacific, Phuket and Malé both scale up to 21 flights a week — handy if you're chasing winter sun in Thailand or the Maldives. Ho Chi Minh City gets 11 weekly services from 7 November, including four non-stop flights from Doha.
Australia sees a notable boost too. Canberra is back on the map from 9 December with daily flights routed via Melbourne, while Melbourne itself doubles from seven to 14 flights a week. Partner Virgin Australia is adding its own Doha services from Sydney, Brisbane and Perth from December, giving Aussies more one-stop options to Europe and beyond.
Europe gets extra lift as well: London Heathrow rises to 56 Qatar Airways flights a week from 25 October, on top of British Airways' daily London-Doha service, and Frankfurt goes from 18 to 21 weekly flights in December. Further afield, Montréal gains a 40% seat capacity bump with daily flights from late October, and Saudi Arabia's domestic network grows to 12 destinations with more than 155 weekly flights, including restored service to Qassim, Taif, Yanbu and Tabuk.
The airline says passenger numbers have recovered to roughly 90-95% of last year's levels after regional disruptions, with Hamad International Airport now processing over 140,000 travellers a day. Fleet-wise, more than 150 widebodies already offer free Starlink Wi-Fi — up to 340 connected flights daily — and 138 new aircraft are due over the next five years.
If you're planning a winter escape via Doha, the busiest dates around Christmas will still fill up fast, but the added frequencies give you real flexibility: multiple daily departures on routes like London, Phuket and Malé mean a delayed connection no longer wrecks your trip.
