If your idea of a holiday includes a barbell, clear your diary for 21 November. Base Bangkok fitness is running the second edition of its Base Team Games at Base Amarin, on the 2nd floor of Gaysorn Amarin on Phloenchit Road — right in the middle of Bangkok's prime shopping district. The first event sold itself on a simple pitch: no experience needed, just a team of four and some grit.
The format is a 60-minute gauntlet across four workout stations, with each team getting 15 minutes per station and a two-minute breather between rounds. Two stations are conditioning-based, scored on calories burned, while the other two are pure strength: a combined three-rep-max bench press and deadlift. Everything adds up to a final score, so there's strategy involved — do you put your strongest lifter on the bench, or save them for the rower?
What makes this approachable is the "You Go, I Go" setup. At the run station one athlete works while three cheer and recover; on the SkiErg and RowErg stations, two teammates can work at the same time. Teams can swap members freely during conditioning rounds, so it's as much about communication and pacing as raw fitness. Every station can be scaled, with coaches on hand all day — a deliberate nod to first-timers who've never competed but want to try.
Competition runs in three categories: men's, women's and mixed teams of four. Smaller teams of three can enter too, though they'll carry a heavier workload and sacrifice some combined strength totals. Sessions run between 10.30am and 12.25pm, with three teams per time slot, so the vibe stays tight rather than overwhelming.
Early-bird entry starts at 2,000 baht per team for the first 10 sign-ups, then rises as tickets go — and booking early also locks in your preferred time slot. Prizes come from Ari Running for every member of the top three teams in each category, with lucky draws scattered through the day.
Why should a traveller care? If you're visiting Bangkok in late November and train regularly, this is an easy way to plug into the city's fitness community for one morning without a membership or long-term commitment. Gaysorn Amarin sits directly on the BTS Phloenchit line, so it's reachable from most of central Bangkok in minutes — and you can reward yourself afterwards with the malls and restaurants of the Ratchaprasong district next door. For locals, it's a low-pressure entry point into competitive fitness without the intimidation of a full CrossFit-style throwdown.
