If your idea of a Caribbean escape involves zero children and a beach you basically have to yourself, Grenada just added a new option. Silversands Beach House, a 28-room hotel above secluded Portici Beach, has switched to adults-only, welcoming guests aged 16 and up with immediate effect.
The property opened in 2024 as the smaller sibling of Silversands Grand Anse, and intimacy has always been its selling point. Rooms and suites are staggered along a hillside above the sand, each with floor-to-ceiling windows and canopied outdoor terraces angled toward the Caribbean Sea. Portici itself is a quiet pocket of coastline - nothing like the broad, busy sweep of Grand Anse, Grenada's most famous beach a short shuttle ride away.
The hotel isn't trying to keep you busy. The pitch is beach, pool, dinner, wellness, repeat. Food centres on Azzurro, the signature restaurant serving Italian cooking in a Caribbean setting. There's an outdoor gym and a Wellness Room offering individually tailored holistic treatments. That low-key approach has landed some outside recognition too: this year the hotel won a Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Best of the Best award, reserved for the top one percent of properties on the platform.
Resort manager Clarista Hillaire framed the change as a continuation of the hotel's mission to create a "restorative oasis for adults on the Grenadian coast" - and it neatly sharpens the choice between the two Silversands properties. Beach House is now the small, grown-up retreat on Portici. Grand Anse, with 43 suites, eight private villas, a kids' club, a spa and four dining concepts, remains firmly family territory on the island's best-known beach. Two very different holidays, same brand.
The wider context matters for anyone eyeing the Caribbean right now. Adults-only is one of the fastest-growing hotel categories in the region, but most of the new entrants are sizeable resorts. What's genuinely rare is the combination Silversands Beach House offers: a genuinely small hotel, a secluded beach and a no-under-16s policy all in one place. Add Grenada's broader wave of small, design-focused luxury openings, and the island is quietly becoming a serious pick for couples and friend groups who want polish without crowds.
