One of the Maldives' most recognisable private island resorts is throwing itself a decade-long birthday party — literally. The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli, in Dhaalu Atoll, opened to its first guests in November 2016, and from 10-20 November 2026 it will mark ten years with a packed programme of guest chefs, award-winning bartenders, art workshops, perfume masterclasses and marine conservation.

The opening night sets the tone: a sunset cocktail reception over the Indian Ocean, a retrospective of the resort's signature drinks, and a hands-on coral restoration session with Reefscapers, where guests will help build a coral frame shaped like the number 10 that will be planted on the island's house reef. A beach dinner under the stars, built around dishes from the past decade, closes out night one.

From there, the schedule leans on big-name collaborations. On 11 November, Felice Capasso — World Class Global Bartender of the Year 2025 — takes over The Whale Bar and debuts the Bright Mary, his spin on the St. Regis Bloody Mary ritual. Art therapy studio Fann Art Therapie runs Mandala String Art workshops on 11-12 November for all ages. Louise Farina, ninth-generation descendant of the Farina fragrance house founded in 1709, leads perfume masterclasses on 14 and 16 November, plus an immersive dinner on the 15th inspired by the notes of the Original Eau de Cologne — with a matching limited-edition cocktail at The Whale Bar through 20 November.

The food headline act comes near the end: Alexander Herrmann, the German chef and TV personality behind the two-Michelin-starred AURA by Alexander Herrmann & Tobias Bätz, hosts a wine-pairing dinner on 19 November at Decanter, the resort's underground wine cellar, followed by a masterclass on the 20th. A closing sunset reception wraps the ten days. General manager Ozgur Cengiz framed the milestone as a nod to both loyal guests and the staff behind the resort's reputation.

Why it matters: anniversary events like this are a genuine value-add if you were already eyeing a Maldives trip in November — you get access to Michelin-level dining, a world champion bartender and perfume masterclasses bundled into a regular stay, plus the chance to leave something physical behind on the reef. It suits couples after a splurge occasion and families alike, since the workshops are open to all ages. If your dates are flexible, mid-November also sits in the shoulder of the dry season, before the peak December price surge. Details and booking are at stregismaldives.com.
