WestJet passengers will soon get a proper taste of Canada at altitude. From November 30, the airline will pour Tim Hortons Flight Roast on board — a custom blend made just for WestJet and engineered to taste right at cruising altitude, where cabin pressure and dry air famously dull coffee's flavour.
The blend is 100 percent Premium Arabica, roasted to a full medium profile, and pitched as smooth and balanced with notes of toasted nuts, cocoa and red fruit. It will appear alongside Tim Hortons tea on flights that already include refreshment service, so economy travellers included, not just those up front.
There's a broader play here too. WestJet has been pushing hard into sun destinations, and the timing is no accident: a new nonstop route between Winnipeg and Punta Cana starts November 28, two days before the coffee does. Expect to sip a double-double-flavoured cousin of your morning brew somewhere over the Caribbean.
The bigger news for frequent flyers lands in 2027, when WestJet Rewards and Tims Rewards members will be able to link accounts and earn WestJet points on eligible Tim Hortons purchases — essentially turning your daily coffee run into future flights. Linked accounts also unlock exclusive offers and promotions, though the earning rates and full benefit list haven't been announced yet. WestJet says more details will come closer to launch.
For travellers, this is one of those small perks that adds up. If you fly WestJet regularly, coffee on board gets a recognizable upgrade from day one, and the loyalty link could quietly accumulate value if Tim Hortons is part of your routine. If you're heading to Punta Cana or another Caribbean route this winter, you'll likely taste the partnership before you read about it.
