Portuguese hospitality group Tivoli Hotels & Resorts has touched down in the Gulf with a new opening: Tivoli LA VIE Muscat Hotel & Residences, set inside the LA VIE development in Madinat Al Irfan, one of Muscat's newer master-planned districts. It's the brand's first foray into Oman, and it arrives with an unusually complete setup for an urban hotel.
The inventory splits two ways. There are 79 rooms and suites, from Superior and Deluxe categories up to Junior and One-Bedroom Suites, many facing the fairways of the neighbouring golf club. Then there are 21 serviced apartments, aimed squarely at longer stays, relocating families and business travellers who want hotel services without hotel-room fatigue. At the top end sits a 160-square-metre, two-bedroom Presidential Suite with panoramic views. A nice local detail throughout: bath products come from Amouage, Oman's famous perfume house.
Wellbeing is a genuine selling point here. The property houses the first Anantara Spa in Muscat, mixing Thai treatment traditions with locally inspired rituals. There's also a rooftop infinity pool built for both lounging and laps, a Technogym fitness centre and dedicated relaxation zones.
The golf angle is what sets it apart. Guests get direct access to the 18-hole championship course at LA VIE Country Club, designed by Paul Thomas and managed by Troon, with a Toptracer driving range and practice facilities on site. It effectively creates a stay-and-play format inside the capital, rather than requiring a trek to a resort outside town.
Location-wise, it's practical: about 10 minutes from Muscat International Airport and roughly 25 minutes from the city's main cultural sights, so it works for quick stopovers as well as proper holidays. The design brief leans on natural materials and soft coastal tones with Omani craft references, and the hotel also has multiple restaurants and bars plus meeting and event space, signalling that it's targeting the corporate and events market as much as leisure travellers.
Who should care? If you've been eyeing Oman as a winter sun alternative to the UAE, this gives Muscat a polished new base that combines city access with golf and spa credentials in one place. Long-stay travellers get a proper apartment option, and golfers get a Troon-run course steps from their room. Worth watching as Tivoli builds out its Middle East footprint.
