Summer is finally loosening its grip on the UAE, which can only mean one thing: the great outdoor reopening. As temperatures drop, a string of the country's biggest alfresco attractions are swinging their gates back open, with dates spread from mid-September through to December. If you're planning a Dubai or Abu Dhabi trip this winter, here's the calendar to build your itinerary around.
Already open is Dubai Crocodile Park in Mushrif, which restarted on September 15. It's home to roughly 250 Nile crocodiles, alongside an aquarium and a natural history museum with an African theme. Next up, Sharjah Safari in the Al Bardi Reserve at Al Dhaid resumed on September 21 — one of the largest wildlife attractions in the country, with African species spread across a vast reserve and proper safari-style experiences.
Late September brings mountain weather back into play: Hatta Resorts and Wadi Hub reopen on September 28, restoring kayaking, biking and general Hajar Mountains adventuring just outside Dubai. Then comes the family-heavy stretch. Dubai Parks and Resorts is back on October 7 with its four-park line-up — MOTIONGATE, LEGOLAND Dubai, LEGOLAND Water Park and Real Madrid World. Dubai Miracle Garden follows on October 8 in Al Barsha South, returning with its over-the-top floral sculptures and photo installations.
The Ripe Market returns October 10 at Academy Park, running weekends until May 2, 2027 — think farmers' stalls, street food, small local brands and family entertainment. Dubai Safari Park in Al Warqa 5 reopens October 12 with its safari drives and hundreds of animals. And the big one: Global Village returns October 14, the multicultural mega-market of country pavilions, rides, snacks and live shows that most locals treat as the official start of winter.
Rounding it out is something a bit different — the Liwa International Festival at Tal Moreeb in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra region, opening December 11 and running to January 3, 2027. Expect dune motorsports, heritage activities and desert family fun rather than a themed park experience.
The pattern here is worth knowing if you're travelling: most outdoor attractions in the UAE shut or scale back through the peak summer heat and reopen en masse in October. That makes mid-October to March the sweet spot for a first-time visit, though it also means peak-season crowds and prices. Booking theme park tickets and Global Village entry ahead of time is a smart move, and anything outdoorsy is best done early morning or late afternoon even in cooler months.
