Wyndham Rewards rarely gets the attention that Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors enjoy, but 2026 has been a busy year for the program. Wyndham refreshed its cobranded credit cards, launched a premium card in June, moved to a four-tier award chart on September 15, and — arguably the biggest news — became a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards in February, with Wells Fargo Rewards following in April. If you've got a stash of flexible points, that opens up some cheap hotel nights.
The program covers roughly 8,400 hotels across 25 brands in about 100 countries. At the budget end you'll find Super 8, Days Inn, Howard Johnson and Travelodge; higher up sit Wyndham Grand, Esplendor Boutique Hotels and Registry Collection. One quirk: despite the name, Echo Suites Extended Stay properties don't participate.
Elite status here is unusually easy to get. Gold needs just five qualifying nights a year, Platinum 15, and Diamond 40 — but the real shortcut is the cobranded cards. The base Earner Card comes with automatic Gold status, the Earner Plus Card grants Diamond in year one and Platinum after that, and the Premier and Business Cards include Diamond outright. Diamond perks cap out at a 20% points bonus, space-available suite upgrades and a snack or drink at select brands — modest compared to breakfast and lounge access elsewhere, so chasing status through actual stays isn't worth much effort. If you already hold status with Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, Choice, Best Western or Radisson, Wyndham runs an annual status match: matched status lasts 90 days, and a handful of qualifying nights (one for Gold, four for Platinum, 10 for Diamond) locks it in through the end of the following year.
Earning is straightforward: most brands pay 10 points per dollar on the room rate, with a minimum of 1,000 points per stay at many properties, and elite tiers add 10–20% on top. There's also a $95-a-year Wyndham Rewards Insider subscription bundling Gold status with at least 10% off direct bookings, cruise and theme park discounts, and a 7,500-point welcome bonus.
Why should a traveller care? If your trips skew toward road trips, extended family stays or budget-friendly bases — exactly Wyndham's wheelhouse — this is one of the few programs where top-tier status can land in your wallet via a credit card rather than dozens of hotel nights. And with Chase and Wells Fargo transfers now live, go-to vacation spot nights at Days Inn or La Quanta prices can cost as little as a few thousand points. Just book directly with Wyndham: third-party bookings generally don't earn points or status perks.
