Most airline credit cards hand you a pile of miles and leave status out of the picture. The current welcome offer on the Air France KLM Visa Signature is different: new cardholders who spend $3,000 in the first 90 days get 70,000 Flying Blue bonus miles plus 100 Experience Points, which is enough to unlock Flying Blue Silver status for a full year.
How much is that worth? Using The Points Guy's October 2026 valuations, the miles alone come out to roughly $980. The status bump is arguably the more interesting part. Silver gets you an extra free checked bag and priority check-in not just on Air France and KLM but across SkyTeam partners, Delta included. For anyone who flies the airline or its partners a few times a year, that's money and queue time saved without ever setting foot in a lounge.
The card itself costs $89 a year — modest for what it packs in. Beyond the welcome offer, you'll earn bonus miles on Air France-KLM and SkyTeam purchases, plus on dining and on rent paid through Bilt (up to $50,000 in annual rent spend, capped at 75,000 points). Every account year you spend just $50 on the card, you pocket another 5,000 anniversary miles, and you get a status boost at renewal, with further boosts available through spending. There are no foreign transaction fees, which matters when you're booking in euros.
A few caveats before you apply. Flying Blue redemptions often carry hefty taxes and fees, so the headline miles don't always stretch as far as they look. If you rebook a Standard award, expect a 70 euro change or cancellation fee. On the approval side, Bank of America issues this card and tends to decline applicants who've opened three cards in the past year or four in two years — and reviewers note the bank seems to favour existing customers. If your relationship with BofA is a savings account and nothing else, your odds may improve accordingly.
The status-included welcome offer is genuinely unusual, and it's the main reason to consider applying now rather than waiting. If you already fly Air France, KLM or Delta regularly, the maths works out quickly: the anniversary miles alone roughly cover the annual fee, and Silver status sweetens everything else. If you only board a KLM plane once every couple of years, there are better all-round travel cards out there for you.
