If a properly seared steak is the highlight of any trip for you, Thailand has a two-month excuse to book a table. The American Beef Feast is back for its third straight year, running from Thursday until November 30, with a partnership between US beef industry bodies and Gourmet One, one of the country's main premium food importers.
The format is simple: around 25 of Thailand's top hotels and restaurants put special menus featuring prime American beef, spread across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket and even Chanthaburi. That's a wider footprint than you might expect — you can plan a beach break in Phuket or a mountain weekend in Chiang Mai and still catch the promotion without staying in the capital.
On the Bangkok list are some big-name kitchens: Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit, Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, plus standalone steakhouses like Neil's Tavern Steak & Seafood, 55 Dry Aged Beef and the Michelin-starred Sorn. Menus and pricing differ by venue, so it's worth browsing the line-up and picking the setting that matches your trip — hotel dining room, contemporary steakhouse or something more intimate.
What's actually on the plate ranges from USAD Prime cuts to Select and Choice grades, all from Swift, alongside Imperial Wagyu Beef for anyone wanting the richest end of the spectrum. Diners can expect everything from classic steak-and-seafood grills to dry-aged cuts, so both purists and adventurous eaters are covered.
There's a takeaway angle too. Gourmet One is stocking the same premium cuts at James the Butcher counters inside Tops Food Hall, and at nine Rimping Supermarket stores in Chiang Mai. If you're renting an apartment or villa, or staying somewhere with a decent grill, you can buy the exact beef being served in the hotel restaurants and cook it yourself — often a fraction of the restaurant price.
For travellers, this lands neatly in Thailand's high-season ramp-up. November is when the weather turns cool and dry in Bangkok and the north, and the promotion runs until the end of the month, so it slots easily into a pre-Christmas city break or an island escape. Steak lovers based in Southeast Asia could reasonably build a whole food-focused weekend around it: a prime cut dinner in Bangkok, then a comparison meal in Chiang Mai or Phuket a week later.
The main caveat: menus are venue-specific and popular hotel steakhouses fill up, especially weekends in Bangkok. Book ahead rather than walking in, and check whether your chosen restaurant is participating before you commit to a reservation elsewhere in the city.
