American Express Travel has given its cruise booking programme a fresh identity. From October 22, the long-running cruise offering becomes the American Express Cruise & Yacht Collection, announced on October 20 just ahead of the updated programme going live online.
The new name isn't just marketing spin on the same old product — well, mostly. Amex says the rebrand reflects how the portfolio has grown beyond traditional cruising to cover yacht and superyacht experiences too. The collection now spans 20 participating cruise lines and yacht brands, and card member benefits and participating partners stay the same as before.
The yacht side is where most of the recent growth has happened. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection came on board in 2024 and now operates three yachts. Orient Express Sailing Yachts joined in January 2026, and Aman at Sea signed up in June 2026 ahead of the debut of its first ship, Amangati, which starts its inaugural season in spring 2027.
Newer mainstream-luxury partners include Virgin Voyages and Explora Journeys — two lines that market themselves less like cruise ships and more like upscale floating hotels or resorts. That's the theme Amex is leaning into with the relaunch: the collection now covers everything from big-ship premium cruising to small, ultra-high-end yachts.
What does this mean if you're actually booking? If you hold an Amex card and book through Amex Travel, the practical picture is unchanged — same partners, same perks, just a new name and presumably a refreshed online experience. The value of the collection is really in its breadth. For travellers eyeing the newer yacht brands, this is a useful signal: Ritz-Carlton's expanding fleet, the Orient Express sailing yachts and Aman's upcoming Amangati are all bookable through one programme, which is handy if you like keeping points, benefits and bookings under one roof. For everyone else, it's a nudge that small-ship, hotel-style cruising keeps gaining ground over conventional cruises, with lines like Explora and Virgin Voyager filling the space between mass-market ships and true superyachts.
If a yacht-style holiday has been on your wish list, it's worth checking what benefits apply through Amex Travel before booking direct — onboard credits or added perks can make a difference at this price point. Just keep in mind that dates like Amangati's spring 2027 debut are worth diarising early; ultra-luxury yacht sailings tend to sell out well in advance.
