Greek cruise line Celestyal has opened bookings for 190 shore excursions tied to its new winter Mediterranean seasons, and the list leans hard into food, farms and small-group time with locals rather than standard coach-and-photo-stop sightseeing.
The split: 118 excursions support Celestyal Discovery's new Western Mediterranean programme, sailing winters 2026/27 and 2027/28, while 72 are set for Celestyal Journey's winter 2027/28 Eastern Mediterranean itineraries. Options run from half-day trips to two-day immersions, and 27 fall under the 'Authentic Encounters' banner — smaller groups, local hosts. A new 'Community Connections' strand goes further, pairing guests with growers, makers and villages in ways the line says put money directly into local hands.
The food-first highlights are genuinely tempting. From Malaga, the 'Mamas and Tapas' full-day tour heads into rural Andalucía for an olive oil mill visit and a five-course home-cooked lunch in the mountain village of Alfarnate, from £98 per person. Out of Cádiz, a half-day cheese workshop in El Bosque gets you hands-on with producers working with milk from Sierra de Grazalema farms, from £90. And from Valencia, a half-day trip to Carcaixent visits a family citrus orchard established in 1870, with juice, jams, orange-blossom honey and local citrus liqueurs to taste, from £72.
Beyond those, the programme stretches to a tagine cooking class in Tangier, private flamenco and tapas in Cádiz, Fallas festival workshops in Valencia, a food crawl through Palma's Mercat de l'Olivar, a Taste of Istanbul, and a ride on the historic mountain railway from Volos.
