Đà Nẵng has long been one of Vietnam's best eating cities — pork rice paper rolls, grilled pork skewers, Quảng-style noodles, all washed down with beach air. Now the city is putting its entire food scene in your pocket. A new digital culinary ecosystem, built with Grab and ShopeeFood, maps out more than 200 vetted food stalls and reputable restaurants, letting visitors find, order and pay for local specialities straight from their phones.

The centrepiece is the Đà Nẵng Food Map, integrated into mobile apps as part of the Đà Nẵng Food Tour 2026 programme. Alongside it, the city has been digitising Cồn Market — one of its most popular traditional markets — where traders have been trained to list products online, manage orders through GrabFood and GrabMart, take cashless payments and even write decent product descriptions and price their goods properly. Long-time vendors report a noticeable bump in customers since going online, helped along by platform discounts and targeted promotions.

There's more on the way. City officials want QR codes on listings so diners can trace where ingredients and regional specialities actually come from — a transparency boost that also rewards the businesses doing things properly. A Đà Nẵng Culinary Market model is planned across 10 major traditional markets, bringing digital tools, cashless payment and food safety checks to every stall. Local OCOP (One Commune One Product) goods will land on ShopeeFood too.

The most fun idea for visitors is a planned Đà Nẵng Culinary Passport: eat your way around recommended restaurants, collect stamps, redeem them for gifts. The city also wants to grow its Food Tour Festival to international standards, and the culinary map will be woven into wider smart tourism platforms and festival programming. Officials have asked the tourism department to set clear criteria for which eateries make the cut, with verified brand stories and heritage information before anything goes live — so the map doesn't just become an ad board.

Why does this matter if you're planning a trip? Street-food hunting in a foreign city is half the joy and half the hassle. Order apps are already huge in Vietnam, but knowing which stalls are genuinely local and trusted is the tricky part. With the map built into Grab and ShopeeFood, you can queue up a day of eating — Cồn Market in the morning, a bowl of mì Quảng for lunch, skewers by the Han River at night — without relying on guesswork or vague blog lists. Cashless payment and QR-traced ingredients also make it easier for less adventurous eaters to dive in. If you've been putting off central Vietnam because the logistics felt fiddly, this quietly removes a big chunk of the friction.
